Sorry to be stupid, but What are these recycling facilities and how does it give you points? and where is the nearest one to sheffield?

    Thanks

    Kev

I am not sure where the nearest one to Sheffield is.

They work by swiping your clubcard and dropping one by one your objects (plastic, glass, metal) in an opening and it then sorts it into the correct bin for you. For every 4 items place, you get 1 point.

Have been with Powergen for approx 1 year and the only problem I have is that I have only had ONE bill (at the end of the year and at my request). They have been direct debiting my account on a monthly basis though. Apart from that - more points to my elbow!

Thanks HS, I will look into that becuase it seems a great incentive to start recycling because we dont have a car and no recycling facilities locally

Having said that some people reckon its better to have two mailings, that way you get two lots of vouchers (extra points etc) which is probably a good idea. If they do this then probably best to leave it as it is!

Thanks Dom, yep I get two lots of mailings :)

I think it might be a good idea for you to contact Tesco Customer Service rather than everyone keep asking the same question on the board!! At our new Tesco it says 16 stores have the new recycling facilities where you get points. As there are several hundred Tesco stores the likelihood of one being near you are currently quite small. Sorry about that but like I say everyone who hasn't encountered the facilities yet well that is why, cos they are currently at a very small number of very large stores. Better to phone or ask at customer services than for everyone to each post the question here I suggest?

    Cheers

Just to add to the conundrum of points at the new recycling centres, at Shrewsbury the machines were at last working today (hooray!!!) I took several sacks (old compost bags!) full of plastic and glass bottles, metal lids, cans, foils and plastic tubs today and after putting them all through it said 100 items had been processed. I pressed finish. 100 items at 1 point per 4 makes 25 points yes? Wrong. 22 points.

I was going to have a go for the sake of having a go at CS but when I reused 5 bags in the store the girl gave me 10 points! Also I was well chuffed cos I got four metal tubular folding stools with padded tops (ideal for car boots or events or emergency perches for visitors) reduced from a value £3.74 to just 86p to clear! Plus they had 20% off homewares so got them for 69p each!!!! Happy days! Mega bargain of the month! So came out with a very wide smile. Have tonight spent £81 with Tesco Direct whilst triple points offer is on (lasts until Monday night), getting items delivered to store so no delivery charge.

Hope this helps re recycling. A couple of links that maybe of interest:

Also a trawl of the web (inc planning applications etc) indicate the new machines are or will be installed at these stores soon, although this list is not exhaustive or complete but might be of interest:

Winchester, Havant, Portsmouth, Southampton, Andover, Royston, Shrewsbury, Hucknall, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Haverhill, Isleworth, Loughborough, Feltham, Chichester, Harlow, Nottingham, Solihull, Hazelmere.

    Cheers
