Been reading this thread with great interest, am a bit of a novice so picking up as many tips as I can! Want to collect enough points for some kind of holiday for me and my little girlies :)

I've started with the basics, doing my shopping at Tesco every week, waiting for my application to open a Clubcard Plus account, same for a Clubcard credit card, already a member of all the clubs, trying to remember to recycle bags/old mobiles (not got any cartridges to do yet!)

Though keep forgetting to bring bags to recycle, I need to when I go shopping have a stash by the front door so I see them when I go out! I keep my points vouchers in an envelope in my bag all the time as have got some to use up.

Does anyone have a basic shopping strategy before getting into all the really dedicated stuff about wombling, r&rs and whatnot? What basics should I be covering on a weekly shop with regard to points? And the question I can't decide about - 'real-life' shopping or online?

Can I ask how this works? Does the cashier at the till manually add the points there and then?

I am chronically bad for keeping forgetting to take carrier bags with me when I go to Tesco and am just throwing points down the drain!

    Hiya Youngmum

You need to tell the cashier - twice in my experience - once when you start putting your stuff through that you are reusing bags and then again at the end before you pay that you have ''re-used x no of bags''. I usually forget them and if I do remember to take them have found even when I have told them at the beginning I have had no points (and then the CC desk is busy and I start to get really worked up and think ''this is just not worth the 7 points!'') They are hard work the carrier bag points IMHO because you have to keep reminding the staff to put them in. Its probably the usual thing that some stores have trained their staff better than others.

    Cheers

Just a word of warning - I've found that the Butlins offer doesn't give very good value when buying with Clubcard Deals.

I've saved all our vouchers up for the past year and had £80 worth of vouchers which I've converted to Deals (supposedly worth 4x the face value.)

The Deals vouchers can only be used against the full brochure price which is vastly exaggerated!!! We ended up using the vouchers and getting a four day self-catering break (paying the deals equivalent of £280). After checking on the internet, the exact same holiday would have only cost £93 if we'd paid in cash!!

I paid with £80 face value of vouchers so I've only actually ended up with an extra £13 by using them as deals rather than using them instore. :(

Obviously, I've got a free holiday out of it but don't feel that I've got a fantastic deal. :( Just a warning, in case you end up spending more money at Tesco, for example, just to boost your points. It probably isn't worth buying anything that you wouldn't have bought anyway as you won't be getting 4x face value in the long run. :(

I think that there is a similar problem with Eurostar tickets so it is worth shopping around a bit first to see what you can get in deals elsewhere and comparing with your clubcard deal.

hiya, what was it about that I read on here before that wombling is illegal! Is this true? Because I was in the local car park for around 10 minutes walking around, got like 93 points. But can someone really say something and if they do cant I just state the obvious and say that I am looking for points left behind?!

they might see it in a fraudulent manner but there isnt a single ticket that states all the info of a card! i bet a lot of people still do it.

    Hi all,

Hoping someone may be able to help me. I want to buy an MP3 player through Tesco direct. When I looked the other day, they were offering 500 extra points when you bought an Ipod Nano, but that offer seems to have dissapeared now. Do any of you know if they are offering extra points with any other MP3 players? Also, is there an easy way to see which extra point offers are available online, without having to check the details of each item?

    Thanks in advance

I think the IPOD offer expired in 1/4/07. However, I think they are now offering the deal instore. (500 extra points)
  • Hello all
I was wondering if there was a problem with the double points vouchers, the most recent I can think of is Double points when you buy any wine. I have noticed for the last 6 months or so, some of the double points never appear on the cards balances. I have been to Mr Ts today and checked from last weeks receipt that I should have had an additional 95 points which would have been the double points from that shop, but they are not there even though double points was printed on the receipt. This has happened before and the amounts do add up. Also, some of the extra point vouchers today beeped and were taken by the cashier but have not appeared on the receipt. This for me is happening quite regularly and can be annoying especially if I have bought more of something to get the spend up.
Sorry for being so long winded, but I was asking has this happened to anyone else on here, and if so, what can I do to get my points back?
    Thanks T
  • I noticed this myself a while back Everylittlebit and was told by cs that they would be added on in mays statement i do seem to have rather alot of points compared to last time it could be the case that they have now been added as another cs told me would be added within 48 hrs.Or it could be that im never out of the place!! how does everyone manage to keep check on the points i cant keep up with them but that could be due to the fact i go every day nearly.
