Seem to recall from one of Martins' weekly emails that there is a holiday company where you can pay in Nectar points, and when their sale is on that's the time to spend your points.
Had a search around but am unable to find anything.
Does this sound familiar with anyone? If so, who is the company?
Have circa 60,000 points at present. One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.0 -
I used my points (over 55.000!) to buy flights from ebookers. They often have sales and the points prices seem to follow them.0

I got a AMEX Nectar during one of the 6000 points offers. Initially my intention was just to bag these and dump the card but I decided it retain it as it is often handy having an extra card and it is a good deal when used in Nectar establishments.
I mainly use the card only in Sainbury's to double up my Nectar points. However from time to time I have used it for other things, for example because it has a "Purchase Protection Benefit" which my main cashback card does not have or to utilize American Express Selects discounts for things like car rental or hotel booking (http://www.americanexpressofferzone.com/).
Anyway, the other day I was in the Riverside Inn pub in Vauxhall, which is a Young's Pub (http://www.riversidelondon.co.uk/). I had left my main cashback card behind the bar for drinks but latter ordered food as well. When it came to paying for my food I was told that I could not charge this to my bar tab and would have to collect my card and pay off the drinks bill first prior to paying for my food. I'm guessing this is probably incorrect (the waiter appeared to be new and not overly confident), however rather than arguing the point I suggested paying with my AMEX instead, allowing me to leave my other card behind the bar (as we expected to use it for drinks latter).
Today I was logged into the AMEX website and decided to look over my Nectar points page and noticed that the points for the food purchase at the Riverside Inn stated below it (double points) and indeed the points were doubled!
Youngs are not listed as being part of Nectar. However if they are (or AMEX thinks they are and continues to double up my points) I'll ensure that I always use my AMEX card in these establishments (my local is a Young's pub) since my current cashback card is paying less than 1% cash back and I figure Nectar points are worth at least this (more if you use them during the "Summer Sale" that double the value of points).
Anyone know what happened here or had similar experiences of Nectar points doubling up at certain establishments for no apparent reason?0 -
I signed up to the American express card to get the £25 worth of nectar points- I now have them but remember martins email saying there is some sort of July 2 for 1 sale on and that they could be worth £50. I cant find anymore info on this can someone tell me how they can be worth £50 please?0

I have also just noticed that I have also received double points for purchasing a two pound train ticket from Southwest trains using my Nectar AMEX. Has anyone else received double points from some retailers for no apparent reason? Is there a list somewhere of these 'secret' point doubling retailers?
Could anyone with an AMEX Nectar card who has used it outside of the Nectar partner stores check their Nectar statement (under 'membership rewards' on the AMEX website) and see if they received any points doubling. Look at the Bonus Points column for extra points at purchases from non Nectar companies. Also, click on the plus on the left to see if it states 'Double points'.
At 2 points to the pound being issued at these unlisted retailers the card is good for effectively 1% return in more cases than previously expected. I'd love to work out some kind of comprehensive list so I know where I should be using the AMEX and when I should stick with my cashback card (which pays under 1%).
For those of you who might be tempted to suggest I simply get a better paying cashback card (instead of trying to work this out), for me right now is not a good time to apply for another card (for reasons I won't go into here). Therefore I would like to maximise the points or cashback I receive on the cards I already have.0 -

There has been double / triple points promotions for many sites.
Read it all here:

Yes I have seen that (and it is something I utilise) but I'm not asking about the estores promotions or indeed any other Nectar point doubling outside of AMEX usage. (By the way I'm not trying to sound ungrateful. It is quite possibly my fault if i was unclear previously.)
To state again I received double points using my Nectar AMEX on Southwest Trains and in a Young's pub. This was probably NOT supposed to happen (or at least is unadvertised) and happened 'in the real world' as opposed to on the internet.
I just used my AMEX as normal and got twice the points I should have. I have suspicion that AMEX is doubling the points at other retailers as well, either intentionally or by mistake. What I would like to do is work out a list of these unadvertised double points retailers with the help of others in this group who have an AMEX Nectar.0 -

I have been using my AMEX Nectar more regularly now to test this doubling up thing. My latest is that I got double points in Homebase and 'The Ship' (another Young's pub).
I still have no idea why this is happening but you can definitely get double points in more locations than just Nectar affiliate stores.
Anyone else seen this or have any thoughts?0
