I've always wondered which is the best option to convert Clubcard vouchers to....Airmiles or BA miles?
The answer is neither of the above.
The best value for Tesco Clubcard points can be obtained by spending them on those Clubcard Deals promotion items like admission to Legoland or travelling on Eurotunnel where £10 of Clubcard vouchers are worth £40 on these particular special promotions.
See www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/p.aspx?id=howtoorder0 -
That is true, NGM, Tesco vouchers are wasted buying miles with them, but the deals are selective to certain areas. Once visited where else is left to see? Oh, and the Eurotunnel doesn't appeal to us; never wanted to go to France! My gripe is that Airmiles do not use Bristol International Airport to go to Mallorca.0

We can both share the Mallorca gripe as my mother owns a holiday apartment there and whilst my nearest local airport is Gatwick (10 miles away from it by road and 7 miles in a straight line) I could also fly from Heathrow, Stansted, London City, Southampton or Bournemouth airports if Air Miles had any availability during the whole of the July and August summer holiday period.
However I have just checked availability going out on July 21st and coming back on August 9th or 10th and there is no availability for Air Miles from any of these airports on any airline throughout the period. So far as I can see Air Miles do not have a relationship with Easyjet (even though they claim you can redeem miles on airlines other than BA unlike BA Miles) who have up to four flights a day from Gatwick to Palma.
The current zonal system of fixed mileage rates they have introduced is quite useless to me as it means the only people who can now use Air Miles are those who book 6 months ahead. The system with different mileages on different days was far, far better. Why on earth did they ever move to the current stupid Zonal system.:mad::mad:0 -
Oh, it's not just me then! NGM, have you told Airmiles how you feel about them?
They would probably come up with a suitable answer in their favour, like they did when I complained. Anyway, I've got Airmiles to use up, like you have, so maybe I'll have to subscribe to something to be rid of them. Magazines? LOL!0 -
I agree with you guys. Airmiles are only a good idea if, like me, you book your flights as soon as they are released for the summer (about 10 months before you travel), travel in August (when the flights are most expensive if you were paying by cash) and are on the Tesco 80 miles per £2.50 voucher rate and have an old style (pre-2006) Tesco credit card which awards you twice as many clubcard points as the credit card Tesco issue now.0

Wow! Good luck basiaking with all that planning beforehand. If it works for you then we are missing out not having your set-up, the Tesco 80 and the pre-2006 Tesco credit card. I just wonder if one day the Airmiles will no longer be issued.0

Hi, I'm new to forum so please be gentle!
Has anyone managed to successfully buy a flight on Airmiles with the Lloyds Duo 1500 free miles offer?
I spent around £60 on my card in May and got a confirmation that the bonus 1500 miles had been credited to my Airmiles account.
Great I thought, time to book my holiday flights, I tried several times to book a flight & hotel as per T&Cs of the offer.
First time tried booking the flight first, second time going into the 1500 miles voucher and clicking the "Use Voucher" link but the result was always the same: "You do not have enough Airmiles to complete this transaction" or similar. The Airmiles balance never showed the 1500 bonus airmiles, only the 60 or so I had earned.
I guess there's something I'm not doing or doing wrong - any ideas?0 -
I'm guessing that you have to phone them up for that promo. The way they have started to allocate miles is strange on those type of offers.0

I booked a holiday using the 1500 air miles promo from Lloyds TSB Duo.
The catch is that to take advantage of this promo - which doesn't actually credit you with 1500 miles, but rather a voucher worth 1500 miles - you have to agree to spend at least one night in one of their hotels.
This can be paid for by actual air miles (not the voucher) or by cash, or by a bit of both.
To be honest the simplest thing to do is phone them up and book with one of their agents. They are normally helpful and friendly and everything went fine when I did it this way back in February.
Something I didn't know is that if you have a random amount of miles left over in your account (not from the voucher) they can use these to give you a discount. I cannot remember the rate, it might have been something like 50 air miles = £6 or something, but it made sense to me to further discount my hotel cost!

The rate I got told was 500 miles = £30 if anyone is interested0
