Anyone Else Have a Christmas Day Child?

  • A good friend of mine was born on 26th December and said recently that she really hated it cos it was always overshadowed by Christmas.

Anyway, she turned 50 last year and decided that she would choose a "half birthday" and so she celebrated it in May (long story why then) which she said "felt strange" as she wasn't used to people making a big fuss of her on her birthday. But - she's decided to get used to it, and to keep it as a tradition!

Why don't you wait until he's a bit older and starts complaining about his birthday being overlooked and THEN bring up the idea of a 2nd birthday? You could always experiment with dates?

Couple of years ago my ex knew wot my folks had got me for christmas and i was tellin him on xmas day and he said oooo did you like your GHD straightners. Well that ruined the suprise They had decided to keep them for my birthday so they dont make the same mistake again.

  • My little girl will be two on Christmas Day. Boy was I upset when I realised that she was going to be born on Christmas Day :( After such a long labour I was glad it was all going to be over but I felt gutted that she was going to celebrating her birthday & Christmas on the same day. At the minute it's not so bad as she is still so small but I can see it being a nightmare as she gets older. :(

I have told everyone under no circumstances is Ruby to ever get a joint birthday & Christmas present! Lol! I won't have it :)

I think we'll have a half year party just so she can actually have a party! :)
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:

My little boy is 4 on Christmas day. I feel quite sorry for him really - although can't do much about it . I always make sure he has separate pressies (although he is still too young to notice) and we make such a fuss of him, telling him how special his birthday is. In fact his sister (aged 6) was crying last week because his birthday is just so special............I had to have a little chat with her about why we make so much fuss about little man's birthday (because he only has one special day blah blah!!). We obviously do a good job with bigging up the Christmas birthday!!. In previous years we have always had a birthday cake after dinner - and we normally have friends round so there are plenty of people to sing happy birthday!! He is having a party with nursery friends on the 23rd this year. I'm not sure about the half year party thing - it just wouldn't feel like his birthday then?

The worst thing for him must surely be that I always like to sing the Bony M 'Mary's boy child' substituting Mary and Jesus with our names...........:rotfl:

Crikey I find it hard enough being 3days before xmas...I remember once my parents had a party for me the week before and I was gutted when Santa turned up:( Apparently it was arranged by my aunt and my parents were fuming...can understand why now coz 20yrs later I still remember it! Talk about scarred for life!:rotfl:

Funny how people see things differently - DS went to a party at the end of November, one of his classmates was 4, and his parents got Santa to come in at the end of the party and instead of party bags he gave all the kids a present (which was a selection box) and a glow stick and it was really nice! Each to their own I suppose!

DS is 4 on Boxing Day. It's his own fault, he was five weeks early so I've got no sympathy! Lol. I'm just thankful he missed Christmas day by half an hour! It's a bit of a pain in that before we had him we could relax and put our feet up on Christmas night, safe in the knowledge that it was "all over for another year", whereas now, once the kids have gone to bed, the birthday prepping starts! And he's going to have a proper birthday party this year for the first time, which will be on the 28th. I've given in to the guilt!! Lol.

My DD2 is going to be 16 this Christmas Day. She had never had joint presents. We made sure they were always separate (in different paper). My birthday is 15th Dec and I will always remember getting "joint" presents that were supposed to be bigger, but never were.

From the age of about 8 she had a party in the middle of the year (not summer hols). This was fine until she was about 10/11 and not many bothered turning up because it was a hot day and they were in someones pool.

For the last couple of years she has chosen when she celebrates. This year she had a meal out with some friends and cinema after on 4th Dec (her choice).

She was born at 1203 and we always stop opening any presents at that time and all the attention is focussed on her opening birthday presents. Tea time is birthday time food-wise.

I am looking forward to her buying us a drink on Christmas Day in 2 years time. A friend of mine has a daughter with a 25th Dec birthday and they all trooped down to the local pub for her to buy them a drink :)

Mine's on the 15th. It's the same story for everyone with a december birthday I think. I'm 40 this year, as yet I've never had a birthday party and this year is no different. Everyone is so busy with christmas. I always got the 2 in one pressies too.

I sound like a right grumpy old bag now don't I :rotfl:

You can try - I deliberately didn't try for a baby one month because that would have meant it would have been due on Christmas. Tried the next month, bingo, DS due 28th January. As posted earlier, little blighter decided to arrive five weeks early so I spent all day Christmas day in labour and he was born half an hour into Boxing Day. The best laid plans and all that!! Lol.

And what's worse than a December birthday? Answer - a January birthday! I'm on the 12th of January and everyone is miserable and broke. At least in December everyone's feeling festive!
