Anyone Else Have a Christmas Day Child?

  • I am a Christmas day baby - if I till count as a baby when I turn 30 this year!

I was only saying the other day that I think its a shame my parents never gave me a set nominated day as my birthday, even if it was just say 1st Dec. I always had 'party day' which used to be the first Saturday in December usually, but it wasn't a set actual date. Once I outgrew parties I used to just open my presents as they arrived (we have always lived away from family) which I still do now, and I do feel a bit sad about it.

Now I go usually go out for a nice meal with my fiance and then maybe go to a nice bar after and have a small cake. This year is my 22nd and it's probably going to be the same, nice dinner and dance somewhere just me and him, lol.
I'm on the 22nd too but I don't go out coz I'm too cheap:o I refuse to pay the inflated xmas prices at the restaurants near us.....instead DH makes sure it's special for me and it's probably the only night of the year he cooks(or phones for a take-away):rotfl::rotfl:

Of course you still count! Maybe you should start setting your own nominated day where friends and family can make you feel special and have a party! We always toast other Christmas birthdays on the day, so will include you in that.

Fingers crossed for you! DS2 was due on 4th Jan though! I only finished work to go on maternity leave on Xmas Eve as well! Had planned to have a home birth anyway, which was a good job as it was only an hour from start to finish and to be honest, 30 mins of that was waiting for the midwife to turn up! Still went to mums for Xmas lunch and played football with DS1 on Boxing Day....madness

    Wow!!! Im impressed!!! :D
  • If the Queen can have an actual birthday and an official one I can see no reason why your child can't as well. How thrilling would that be? Celebrating a birthday twice a year when everyone else only gets one but not getting older twice as fast. I wonder what date your child would like to choose as his "official" birthday as I'd certainly let it be his choice which it was.

My sister is a Christmas Day Baby and my parents never did the "joint" gift thing they always made her feel special on her bday

When we were little Santa always came on xmas eve. We thought he would come xmas day and then we'd be in the bath or something and dad would come in "guess what mummy and girls? I just went downstairs and I think santa has been!!"

He has to travel the whole world so starts early in our neighbourhood!!

The the 25th was sisters birthday (and stockings actually, for some reason santa always came back at about 1am on the 25th to drop off stockings :)

Worked really well and christmas never overshadowed her birthday but I always had a great xmas cos Santa came EARLY! what could have been bettr for a child counting down the seconds till christmas

My DS was born on 19th. Nothing Christmas is alowed to happen until he's had his birthday. We do a buffet for friends and family on his birthday evening as they usually break up for Christmas on his birthday and DH finishes work for his break then too.
We go mad with the balloons and birthday stuff then clear it all away and put the tree up when the kids are in bed.
We always have everyones Christmas presents wrapped and out in the hallway. They generally bring ours around then too so all the presents stay in the hallway until we put the tree up then Christmas arrives!
He's 6 this year so I will probaby let them stay up to do the tree. Poor mite didn't get a birthday at all because he felt unwell after school on the 18th (my best friends birthday!) and had full blown flu by that evening.

My son's birthday is New Years Eve which has always been a bit strange for him because everyone is celebrating! We've always celebrated his birthday and made it special for him but when he was younger we always had to have his party on a different day because the other children's parents would be getting ready to go out. As a teen we would go out for a meal for his birthday but normally the day before because it would be a nightmare to book a table anywhere.

Now he's an adult he quite likes his birthday being New Years Eve because everyone buys his drinks!
