My birthday is 26th December, Boxing Day. It is an absolute pain. When I was little I always got the "combined" present although not from my parents. Having any kind of a party is really difficult because people are so busy. My husband's birthday is 14th January and we were married on 30th January. All our celebrations over in a month!
Both my kids have summer birthdays. I did not impose a Christmas birthday on them!0 -
my birthday is the 22nd and i hate it. I don't remember ever having a party when i was younger (had a few since i was an adult!) and my pet hate is my birthday presents wrapped in christmas paper.
My husband is the start of jan and he always moans because everyone buys him presents in the sale - lol!0 -
Our daghter was born 21 Dec (Has her own children now) and she used to have a half birthday on 21 June each year.
Birthday cake and party. she loved it.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
i have my birthday on 23rd and my son will be 18 this christmas day.
i have always insisted on 2 presents for him and they must be wrapped appropiatley, and i have been known to throw a bit of a tamtrum if they havent been, it worked though as now no one sends birthday pressies in xmas paper.
we have alwasy put his pressies in another room and when everyone has opened their christams pressies and calmed down a bit we make a big thing out of watching him open his birthday things.
as he has got older he has embraced the fact that people will buy him a combined present at his request so he can get new games which otherwise they wouldn't buy for a "single" pressie
my birthday tends to be the one thats missed as we are always too busy doing those "its 2 days til xmas" type things0 -
its my birthday on the 23rd dec, and i never had a party as a child, everyone was too busy preparing for xmas. my mum always did a little party tea and cake tho, and i always got seperate pressies, still get seperate ones, but not my mum's eyesight is going, the birthday ones are occasionally wrapped in xmas paper too.
made a point of telling OH, that just because my birthday close to xmas, didnt mean he could forget it lolenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
My daughter was born December 29th last year. She's still a bit little to understand anything about Christmas or birthdays but we intend to make sure she doesn't feel short-changed because her birthday is so close to Christmas. She'll certainly be getting some separate birthday presents from us. The difficulty might be in stopping her elder brother from getting jealous that she's getting extra presents when he isn't...0
