I meant to say in an earlier post I made that we moved into a new house (just built) on 24th December, we spent Christmas and Boxing Day unpacking!!!

We had been sweating on the top line in case we did not get into the house, the builders were being very obstructive, in fact I had at one point been banned from the site because we were trying to get a moving date fixed. Had we not managed to get in we would have been homeless at Christmas. We had moved out of our previous house in November, the buyers were being turned out of their accommodation. We rented a caravan and it had been let for the Christmas/ New Year break. We were in Edinburgh, so accomodation was very scarce. I got the keys on 22nd, we had the carpets fitted on 23rd and the removers came on 24th. We had slept on the floor the previous night to save money.

I hope all goes well and you get moved and straight for the holiday.

  • Afternoon all,
Well what an eventful day so far,
Phoned the gp surgery back as i just knew something wasn't right with Logan, heres the story, when he was younger he had terrible stomach problems and when it came time to have his MMR jab i consulted 3 gp's at the practice and although all said it SHOULD be ok for him to have it, all of them were on the fence as to whether it would be safe or not! As my other children had all had it, i took this as maybe it wasn't a good idea! My bad.
Today was told by a new GP he has mumps and was made to feel like the worst parent in the world. His scaremongering brought me to tears in the consultation room and i was told he should have had the jab when he was little! I'm not psychic and i'm deffinately not a medical professional so i did what i thought was best at the time!
I feel like crap, i'm worried about Logo and to top things off i did the worst thing possible and googled the complications!
Rant over, needed to vent, i hold my hands up i'm a bad parent, now got to deal with the consequences over the forecoming days.

Leigh, you made the right decision at the time as you thought it was a risk to little Logan.

You arent a bad parent, parents have to make hard decisions

Hope he feels better soon, sending lots of love and hugs to you and the little man xx

    Afternoon all.

I’ve now finished the cooking I started yesterday, so cheese straws and carrot’n’orange cake are now cooling in the kitchen.
Zippychick no I don’t have a grater attachment to the food processor, unfortunately. :(There should be one, but it’s the reverse of the slicer attachment, which is so firmly wedged onto its spindle that neither I nor Mr LW has ever been able to shift it. Mr LW bought the food processor 2nd hand some 20 years ago, so I suspect it may have been faulty from day one.

N9eav  remind me never to go to a posh dinner with you; I absolutely loathe chilli. Poor lady must’ve been so embarrassed.

Tru fingers crossed that Mr Tru’s eye will be ok. Good wishes also for nmlc’s dad.

Redruby hope you get the all-important call today.

Hilstep sorry you’ve been having a rough time; good to see you posting, though.

Zippychick sorry to hear that the job stuff is getting to you so badly. I wish there was some way I could help; unfortunately I’ve been out of the job market for a decade, so no words of wisdom I’m afraid.

Heavenleigh you are not a bad parent. You made the best judgement you could in the circumstances. Don’t beat yourself up.

I didn't go to the Mensa meeting last night - was just too bloomin' tired. However, my Yule cards have got the Mr LW seal of approval, so I just need to print out some more. Decs are still sitting in their box at the end of the lounge.... My feeling is that if Mr LW wants them put up, he can get off his bottom and see to it, cos I really can't be @rsed tbh. We might do it tonight; maybe if he gets started, I might be able to scare up a bit of enthusiasm.

Anyway, this post is too long..... so ((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today, and I'll shut up now.:o

    Afternoon again!

Heavenleigh - you made the best decision at the time with the information you had, and tbh these jabs don't guarantee you will never get anything, so he could have got mumps anyway. Complications these days are pretty unlikely - both my ds and dd2 had mumps when they were little, both were poorly with flu like symptoms and swollen glands, and both recovered well.

Zippychick - no great words of wisdom I'm afraid, but do whatever you feel comfortable with, if that involves not looking for work and just giving yourself some breathing space then do that and enjoy Christmas.

I've pootled and pottered and ordered some pressies (thanks for the super linky Haribo!) for ds's stocking. Just taken out some quiches from the freezer for the kids for dinner, will do with hm chips and veg. I forgot, I'm having Christmas dinner at work tonight - fingers crossed some of the day cooks come in, cos our night one is capable of burning a fried egg! And toes crossed that I win something in the raffle this year, and don't end up with a forfeit like last year, when I had to dance with the store manager - I'm short and he's abnormally tall, so at least it made everyone giggle!

On the school run today, so off out in the rain soon, just going to have a cuppa first. xx

ps got the oil rad out of the garage and put it in the sitting room ready for tonight for the kids, and hopefully someone is coming out tomorrow to sort out the gas!

Thanks for all the good wishes, had a call this morning from mortgage lady asking us to fax over more payslips, this involved a mad dash over to OH work to try and find payslips, we found some shoved in a drawer no envelope or anything, (bloody secretary is c**p) but we were still missing two, had to call secretary in from her day off to come and print them off, whole bloody office is so disorganised and dirty, anyway faxed them over and now we are still waiting, might here today or if not tomorrow .

Tbh its not looking good for a move before xmas, its really tight timing wise, but still keeping everything crossed, I would love to be in there before xmas, even if it means moving on the 22nd

Zippychick, you seem to be going through a tough time at the moment, cant offer much advice but have a big squishy hug :D xxxx

Heavenleigh, don't beat yourself up, you thought you were making the right decision, I do hope Logan starts to recover soon xx

  • Just popping in to say thank you to all who have given their good wishes.
As a rational person i agree that i have done nothing wrong.
But as the mother with a poorly child with mumps believe me the rationality has gone out the window and i'm not sure i can humanly cry anymore!
Thanks all for the good wishes and i pray to god no complications come from this, i really dont know how i would live with myself xx

I haven't caught up with the thread yet - will do in a mo.

Mr tru has iritis - same as his mum had. The huge difference is, she was originally mis-diagnosed and treated for uveitis, by the time they realised, it was too late for her sight. But mr tru's has been caught early, so should be ok. He's on steroids for 2 weeks, then has another hospital appointment on 22nd dec. He can't drive for the next 2 days, then he can drive but not in the dark. Not great when we live in Glos, he works in Cardiff and finishes at 5.30pm. Though his boss is happy for him to leave mid-afternoon everyday, he's on a salary not an hourly wage so he won't lose any money. So he has a lot less work to do - there's always a silver lining, lol.
