when my sons were babies and had really sore red bums the doctor prescribed hydrocortisone as they suffered from excema, could this be a possibility for your son?
hope he gets better soonenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
This hasn't been suggested yet, but have you thought about Aloe Vera Gel? I've used it on everything from cuts, to burns, to exczema to scratches and it's wonderful at soothing the pain and healing...may work well on the rash?0

Mine both had that when they were teething, my mum told me to always wash their bottoms with plain old water after they have done the business, otherwise you would be piling chemicals on top of each other -i.e thru wipes & creams.
The other point off keeping the nappy of as much as poss is true, it worked for mine, but in the winter it would be cold for the little!, goodluck HTHNo one said it was gonna be easy!0 -

Aw! If it was thrush and it has cleared up there is a possibility it will flare up again, as the bacteria tend to stick around. If it comes back just go and get her checked out and they will let you know. I know some irritation nappy rash comes up like dot's too so you might be lucky- hope so thrush is so yucky as it can keep coming back.0 -

Yeah I forgot about that, I used that on DD bum too when it got all red and sore and it would soothe it so much. I also use it on me too it is great stuff. The best stuff I have found is either straight from the plant, or in holland and barrat (and prob other cheaper places too) they sell the 100% aloe gel, as many aloe gels have other stuff added to them so are less effective iyswim. Aloe gel is amazing!!!

I never wiped my babies bottoms with wipes. I just used baby lotion and cotton wool.
As others have said letting the air get to it as much as possible. Aloe Vera Gel worked well on my recent burn have you tried that?£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

That is fine on a 'normal' bum but on a rash baby lotion will sting! Try it, honestly. It seems as if it will soothe it but on a rash it is best to limit the chemicals you put on it, which is why like others have said, water or olive oil etc is less stingy than anything else.
Sorry to be nitpicky but it's just that I had eczema for a long time, and for years tried different things on it and I remember baby lotion was really bad and stung like crazy. It's surprising what was Ok and what wasn't as you would expect the baby stuff to be more gentle. Thankfully now I have cured my eczema by cutting out any irritants and using homeopathy.0 -
My LO used to suffer really badly with nappy rash, usually when he was getting teeth through. We tried all the creams with him but nothing worked. We took him to the doctors and they prescribed him Clotrimozole (sp?) and canestan to apply together. This was the only thing that worked on him and it cleared up within 2 days after it being red raw and bleeding. I would be careful of using egg white, we tried this on our LO and after it being on for ten minutes he came out in a rash all over his stomach, back and legs!
I hope you manage to get it cleared up, theres nothing worse than seeing them in so much pain xStarted Slimming World 5/7/11 Weight loss so far 1 stone 11lbs :T

Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0
