Yep! Metanium is amazing. It's smelly and messy but it really does work wonders. I had it recommended to me by a Foster Carer who'd used it on goodness-knows-how-many sore bums over 25 years of fostering babies. I never looked back!

Hope you get the little one sorted soon, bless.

  • Could it be thrush? Just a thought, as when my two used to get a sore bottom that would not go away the health visitor said it was thrush. We got clotrimazole (canesten) for it and that started working almost immediately. Also as somebody else advised, lots of fluids to dilute the urine so it doesn't sting as much.
  • My little girl had awful nappy rash last week, it looked like it was blistered and weeping, it was awful!! i got a cream from the chemist called mohurlin that has helped it loads, sudocrem, talc and a boots cream all made no difference, im not sure what caused it though, i used a diff nappy brand and she cut 2 teeth so it could have been either of those.

i also found using ashton parsons powders really helped with the acid tummy that teething causes plus they really seemed to help soothe them.
sounds just like my girl was with the nakedness. i had the gas man in doing a check in the hall, next thing i knew his audience (2YO girl) was starkers.

Someone mentioned baby talc. I wouldn't use that because once it gets damp it'll stay damp.
  • I work in a nursery and the 2 best nappy creams that we have used are Morhulin, which is in a blue and white tube and Conotrane, which is a white tube with blue writing.

The conotrane is cheaper and it seems to work the best.

Hope he feels better with it soon.
Could the nappy rash be due to him getting too warm in the sleepsuit and him sweating alot?

Put sme bicarbonate of soda in the bath water - takes the sting out and works wonders. Use one of the creams mentioned above, I had a fantastic cream when mine were little with bad rash, but cannot remember the name was a long time ago, but its a small blue tube in a blue and white box.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

timodene is what was prescribed last time. this is the 2nd time he has been really bad and this time i feel so sory for him as it isnt working and he screams and runs away at the prospect of bum change and cream.

he gets changed very often on account he takes his clothes and nappy off when he has weed which i took for getting the potty out which he will sit on but then get off and pee all oer the carpet. thats not a problem, the widdling over sockets is. ill rearrange the room a bit.
