Yep Metanium is fantastic. You could also try Aloe Vera gel. Or even natural yogurt believe it or not.
  • stop using wipes at the mo, cotton wool and warm water, fresh air and egg whites, never used any creams on mine apart from moisturiser after a bath. very rarely had a sore bum and when they did a couple of days of egg whites and was a sgood as gold again. hth

my youngest used to have the most awful sore bottom when little tried everything changed nappies/wipes and creams as was told it may be partly due to her excema. i was then told about METANIUM cream fantastic stuff, very greasy and it does stain but at the time i didnt care as it worked so well

Is that the thick brown stuff, like clay (or poo):D
Pretty sure it ism, I used to use this on my DD when she got nappy rash. That was over 20 years ago, but it was great stuff then.

In between I used to use pink stuff called Drapolene as a barrier cream when she didn't have a rash.

Try both of them, Metanium for the rash & Drapolene when they are back to normal to keep it away.
  • Id also say Metanium ointment. Its fantastic stuff, used to put it on my ds before bed, the next morning would be almost 100% better, unbelievable stuff.
Hope he gets better with it soon X

matanium, have tried that as well. nursery have a batch of tis for him. not helping.

    thanks for your replies.

id love nothing more for him to wander round with nowt on, he would soooo love it as well. suppose piddle on the carpet aint no big deal but peeing over plug sockets.....and pooing on the carpet. eeeek.

he has always worn pampers and we always use the tesco hypo-whatever wipes and have done from birth with no problems. diet hanst changed either. all that has changed is nightwear but his whole body would come up in sores if allergic somehoe to the material yet he has none and has some fleecy jumpers and stuff.

never know if he is teething as luckily we never have had a problem with him teething and we were lucky not to with chops as well.

im going to dig out the pastry brush. poor wee man

Another Metanium fan here. Both mine were alergic to sudocrem & it used to make them worse. I hardly ever used to use anything (unless they got sore) & used this based on a chemists recommendation.

as has been said fresh air. Make sure you wipe using water and i applied metanium pre nappy. Not economical but change the nappy frequently too!
Both of my kids had it so i really sympathise. sudocream, petroleum jelly and E45 used to make my pairs worse for some reason.

as said metanium worked fine on DD but not at all on him.

my DD ate some once. my fault entirely. the woman @ nhs direct was crying laughing at the end of our call after i described chops' face pasted in it in a diy job. of course after they checked if poisonous which thankfully it wasnt.
