We ordered ours from our local buildcentre and haven't heard from them about delivery yet. I didn't mind when it was -6 outside but now it's warmed up a little I wouldn't mind getting the stuff up there ASAP. Ours is going over boards so hopefully won't be too difficult to put down, although I'm dreading the fibres getting everywhere. Will definitely be getting some of those disposable overalls to wear!0

had 24 rolls delivered yesterday afternoon, was pleased who fast it went down. didnt itch at all really and didnt have any overalls on just jeans and a old jumper, now is the best time to do it. It might be cold up there in the loft but once you start laying you dont feel the cold. A little tip b4 laying the 170mm over the 100mm................ Break the seal but hold the plastic wrapper around the roll in place, now place the roll to the point it needs to start from, then let go and let the roll un-roll half way. at this point put one of your feet up against the bottom of the roll and pull the plastic wrapper out.. Doing it this way helps with trying to slide the roll upto where it needs to be that little bit better. :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0

I did some more in the loft yesterday. I've now confirmed that there is no insulation at all over the 4th bedroom, which has a small loft space over it with very confined access. I considered crawling in there but was slightly concerned I wouldn't come out again
Definitely one to think about as I hate the idea of there being no insulation at all over it (that bedroom has always been cold!).
samnjarv: I'm still of the impression my loft is worse than yours - but feel free to prove me wrong with a pic and I'll reciprocate. If you're right I'll take it all back

I'll take your word for it pencekeeper, yours does sound at lot worst than mine.. Look at it this way it only needs doing once then thats it you'll be saving money as well as being toastie warm.
AgreedWell worth doing and glad I've started. I do ache in places that don't normally ache though!

Mine was delivered Friday (Ordered early December), 33 rolls in the drive all nice and wet! I worked until very late Friday on it and from 8am to 9pm Saturday laying the stuff and it has to be the most unpleasant DIY job I’ve ever done, I’m still itching and my eyes are sore.
I wore disposable overalls, goggles and masks but the goggles they supply just get completely steamed up when you wear the mask. My loft is a nightmare as it has many cross structures making it impossible to simply unroll the stuff, you have cut pieces to size and crawl all over positioning and cutting slots to go round all the structures. Nothing like the illustration that comes with it, which must have been a barn conversion?
The stuff itself (Rockwool) does pull apart easily so it’s difficult to move about.
Earlier posts mentioned worries about cold, seriously I sweated buckets! The outside air didn’t get much above freezing this weekend and I was just wearing a long sleeve shirt under the overalls.
I’ve added 27cm to the existing 10cm so I’ve now got 37cm (~15”) of insulation in my loft for £34 which is good value. Although the government assisted grant quote to supply and install for £300 now seems very reasonable. I wouldn’t do that job again for £300! Mind you, I doubt they would have ensured full coverage around all the obstacles…
Anyway thanks to the original post that alerted me to this offer, just hope we notice the difference?Regards
