I've installed mine and Mrs DOTS is not too happy with the wires (Phone and Mains) that are hanging down from the box. Any ideas on the best way to hide them apart from channeling into the wall? If I cant get it looking neater she may make me take it all out again!!

Crikey all that effort for grief!

    Help needed and appreciated

    DOTS

Simple, get rid of Mrs DOTS. :D

I have just purchased the alarm too, I have not installed it yet. I think I will either out alarm panel above meter box in hallway and have about two inches of wiring going into meter box where I will have a phoneline extension and socket. Should be tidy enough.

Failing that, the alarm panel will be put in airing cupboard and the additional (battery powered) keypad will be purchased for the hallway.

    Hope this helps?

I found a poor review on amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00027YENU/026-4359611-6611669?v=glance&n=560798

Is it safe to say that this person is a one off?

Think he has issues, not my experience at all.

How did you deal with your alarm panel wiring? Is it just left there or has it been tidied up one way or another?

    Dear Folks

Bought one, easy to install, easy BT web interface, works great - love it!

Now looking for a few more sensors and external bell!

  • Good luck to anyone who's contemplating buying one of these from Savastore. I had a problem with mine and after several failed attempts to get to speak to them (recorded message telling me there was a 5 day current waiting time to respond to emails) I emailed them. That was well over a week ago and I've still received no response (customer service is non-existent). BT on the other hand could not have been more helpful when I phoned them (and no I don't work for BT).

Without going into a lot of detail, I swore I'd never order from any branch of Watford Electronics again (of which Savastore are the on-line division) since I had problems getting a refund over incorrectly supplied goods a few years back. Foolishly I decided to order the VP1000 from them as the price looked so good. I regret it now though. What it is they say about a leopard never changing its spots?!

The time spent trying to get hold of anyone on their 0870 has completely wiped out any small saving on the purchase I might have made from ordering from them.

If only it was that simple :D

So can anyone clarify if the additional keypad works with the keyfob? (for turning alarm on and off) or is it a maunal job of keying in the pin for entry and exit i.e If I hide the alarm panel under the stairs and buy a keypad for near the front door (59.99 at BT shop) should I then just throw away the keyfobs as they will not work unless I keep opening and closing the cupboard door under the stairs??

Any experiences would be welcomed...plus a place thats cheaper that 59.99 for the keypad (thats if it does work with the keyfob)

    Cheers

The BT alarm is a rebadged Visonic Powermax? They were last time I looked. Generally ok, probably one of the better wireless alarms, but all alarm installer will tell you a wireless alarm system is always prone to more false alarms than a wired one. I can talk from experience as I had a Powermax in my last house. Cost a fortune to add stuff on...external bell box etc

The company that makes these is Israeli and therefore the shipment of spares can be a bit intermittent.

Any questions, just give me a shout-I may be able to help!
