Instead of having two drives you now have one thats as big as both of them.0

so if io understand this correctly does it not matter that I am missing a drive? only noticed when i put my memory stick in and noted that it was not removable disk J anymore.
will I still have same amount of space?
sorry for overreacting now very tired. I have been on with this since 9.30am realised couldnt get on net to do updates as to had to reinstall the modem and wireless pci card. would have rang them to vent my spleen but I have no voice so have had to use google on laptop for advice.
Another PC World incompetence story.0 -
DONT WISH TO NAME as i am sure they meant well but this was the response:Who on the Techie forum advised you to go to PC World? They should hang their heads in shame.
Which applications did they restore...as they suggest they have?
You can do it other ways but all require you to know what you are doing and are quite complicated to explain here.
I think your best bet is to take it to your nearest repair shop for them to sort. I know pc world are currently charging £30 to fix this issue.
was the response i got when i said posted arrrrh what have i done( can i add i followed the instructions on Microsoft knowledge base and removed SP3 which left me in this state)0 -
£100 is a lot to install a OS, I would glady do it for a lot less if I was near

Another PC World incompetence story.
do you lot think I would be justified in going in and complaining that I have had to install my programsI am feeling totally overcharged and fed up nowafter all your comments.
Iam sure someone with more know how would have installed everything quicker but thats why I asked them to do it
Daughter thought it was funny as her SATS REVISION disks arent on yet so she didnt have extra work to do tonight.
Thank god i noticed AV, firewall, spyware werent on before i managed to get net up and going0 -
I would be in for a refund then. You have had to reinstall both you modem and wireless card drivers. They have not carried out the job they charged you for or even tested it.Well first of all I took it to PC World at the suggestion of some one on the Techie forum when we couldnt get the computer out of safe mode loop they said it would be £30 however PC world tryed to just repair the OS but said they couldnt so they did back up and restore.
it shows as data backup and restore of machine after speaking to customer.
I asked if my computer would be back to how it was and he said yes.
next line on rport shows as backed data up 36gb reinstalled windows inc apps and drivers transfferred data back to machine.
You shouldn't have lost any space just a drive letter, think of the old D drive as a big folder, that is now called an even bigger C folder
So now Old C+D=New C, god my maths teacher would love that one :rotfl:
If you check the size of your C drive and how much space is used, it should come to 36GB going by their backup report(loosely used term), again if it doesn't let rip politely and factually. Going in all  is easy to ignore for them, however well presented :A arguments get them all confused and more likely to react to your satisfaction.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Yes but I am sure they meant well0 -
They said £30 to fix this issue. However it seems the issue was only resolved with a full OS install which may format all your data/programs
I always advise when getting OS installed along with some important programs to back it up with Acronis imaging software it can even back up data so you can then always go back to a previous install and its very easy to do. It atkes around 30min or less to restore a drive rather than say a couple of hours for OS and some programs which you then have to find to install
I always store data on a separate HD and back up on to DVDr0 -
