Ridiculous. They just made a back up or your Documents and Settings, and then reinstalled XP.
£100. I guess if you take it to PC World, against all advice, that will happen.
I think that you've rather overreacted to Jakg's comment.0 -
well assuming they backed up and have put your documents back. Any software thats missing you need to reinstall from disc or download from net, any other files like the recovery files on the D drive are lost.Survey earnings total 2009 £417, 2010 £875, 2011 £5740

Did you get any form of backup disc from them? Do you have any windows discs for it? What does the receipt from PC World list for work carried out?
Davester's comment wasn't so much aimed at your software more at the competence of PC World Staff to actually carry out a job competently. I am sure he didn't mean any offence to you. Jakg was merely asking why your daughter was mentioned, again not an insult.
However to get help please answer the questions without getting side tracked. Otherwise we have no idea what position your PC is in.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
Most recovery partitions are usually not assigned a drive letter (i.e. don't show up in My Computer) to stop people messing with them. Most likely the HDD was partitioned in half - Acer do this for example, half for the OS and half for "Data" which imo is just stupid.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

One word: rip off. Crap thats two, must be the way pc worlds staff add up as well.0

Well first of all I took it to PC World at the suggestion of some one on the Techie forum when we couldnt get the computer out of safe mode loop they said it would be £30 however PC world tryed to just repair the OS but said they couldnt so they did back up and restore.
it shows as data backup and restore of machine after speaking to customer.
I asked if my computer would be back to how it was and he said yes.
next line on rport shows as backed data up 36gb reinstalled windows inc apps and drivers transfferred data back to machine.0 -
Lets sum up PC World in one word.......CR*P

so if io understand this correctly does it not matter that I am missing a drive? only noticed when i put my memory stick in and noted that it was not removable disk J anymore. Most recovery partitions are usually not assigned a drive letter (i.e. don't show up in My Computer) to stop people messing with them. Who on the Techie forum advised you to go to PC World? They should hang their heads in shame.
Which applications did they restore...as they suggest they have?0
