If it helps, I was devastated when my son did the dirty on my beautiful DIL, leaving her with two babies under 18 months. They are two beautiful young women now who adore their mother and their 4 younger siblings from her second marriage (who also call me grandma :T).

My son went on to marry someone else quite quickly, but it didn't last. He recently told me that he has always regretted letting DIL1 slip away, but he was too immature and selfish at the time to see beyond the disturbed nights and the floozie with loose knickers.

You are doing great. Anyone would be proud to have you for a DIL xxx

I ended up a sobbing wreck in front of her on Sunday and it turned out she was as frightened that I'd start to see her as his Mum as I was that she'd end up distant from me! My poor FIL was totally bewildered when he came in and we were both blubbering wreck - he thought there had been a row! FIL isn't a man who is very demonstrative, but he did say "I hope you'll still call me paw" which I think was his way of saying the say as MIL (I call them maw and paw after a funny incident when we all went on holiday years ago).

I'm still kinda bewildered that everything has changed so much, but I'm keeping busy. I've bee scouring Rightmove looking for houses. There's loads on so I'm hoping it'll mean we find somewhere nice. I'm looking for a 3 or 4 bed and there's lots on the market which is good.

I can't thank everyone enough. Just speaking to impartial people has really given me the confidence to sort things out.

I thought you said you only earned £600pm, how are you going to make that work? LHA rates would only be for a 2bed place if you were going down the benefits path.

You are right, its nothing to do with me or anyone else but im a nosey bugg*r:D What other professional sports clubs pay £250k pa to employees? I'd be mightily surprised if he were not a footballer. Probably in championship or league 1 on that salary.

Tip...If you dont want anyone knowing your business, keep it off the internet my dear;)

If you'd had any interest in actually helping and read what had been written then you'd know how I'm going to make that work.

Be mightily surprised then because you are wrong. Besides which off the top of my head I can think of both Rugby Union and Rugby League players who are paid that much amongst others.

I'll say the same to you as to the person who messaged me fishing for details, I came here to ask for advice because I needed it. Not to name and shame my husband or to completely wash my dirty linen in public. Simply to get some help when I wasn't sure where else to turn. The people who've helped and given advice have been an amazing help, people out simply to pry or have a go could easily put off people in need from posting.

This is a fabulous site and thanks again to all those who've helped.

    Quite right too GG:T

Methinks our mitchaa is a little jealous of your hubby's earning potential since our mitchaa is completely driven by money (he'll deny it of course;)).
He is also neither a PWC or an NRP and thinks you can bring a child up for £20 a week and that, when you have children, it makes no difference to the household bills...and he only usually comes on here to cause a bit of a 'debate' *cough* so you have held yourself well - but then I would expect nothing less from a woman like you :)

And to be honest it never crossed my mind that he was/could be/is a famous sportsman!! I just thought he stuck in at school!!!!:o:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You asked a specific question which was pertaining to 'her business' in no way whatsoever so no need for the patronising tone really is there?

You're just dying to know who it is which frankly, is distasteful, when all GG wanted and will continue to need to support and what her rights were with regards to her children which is the priority here.

Make your balls drop did it to think of a man earning more than you;):D

    Thanks LG.

I'd love to know how children don't make a difference to the household bills. I obviously forgot to order the non-eating, non-clothes wearing versions when I got mine!

He's not a famous LG - people often hear the area he works in and do the whole "who is he" thing and I can say, hand on heart, that every single time it has been followed with either a "Oh" or "who" :rotfl:

GG the best thing you can do is put mitchaa on ignore, he will have nothing useful to contribute to this thread.

Oh no doubt he will come on and say that you would be paying a mortgage anyway, using gas, putting the cooker on yaka yaka whether you're single or with kids:rolleyes:....Lazy's advice is probably best to be honest.;)
