Heart Valve in my Pastie!!!

Hi All,

I've been well aware for a long time that all kinds of stuff gets put in Sausages and Pasties but what I experienced on Monday brought things to a different level.

I went into a local (but large) chain of food shops and bought 2 pasties. One for me and the other for my wife. After polishing most of it off I then saw a large 'heart valve type tube' about 2.5" long sitting in my pasty looking at me. It was disgusting obviously from a cow.

How do I stand legally on this?? What would anybody do?? Would you photograph it and report it?? I still have it.

I'd like to hear others views. Am I expecting too much but to have meat in my pastie??

Regards
Stebiz

I would send a nice friendly email to their customer service and ask if these things (yuk yuk yuk) are normally to be found in their product. Should be worth a goodwill token at least. AND then dont buy them again. because even if they say No you can bet your boots they are. Good luck

Well it shows the pasty was made from real meat!. I cannot see your concern. A mistake has been made, we don't live in a perfect world. At least it's meat and not broken glass or a plaster off somebody's finger.

I would email them about it, and maybe send it to them.

I know they put lots of nasty things in pasties but I wouldn't expect that!

Well, I will never eat a pastie again!

Pasties are made out of the c**p they don't put in other things. I'm afraid if you want nice meat you have to pay for it.

Whilst my first reaction is eeewwwww.... as other have said, at least heart is real meat (given meat is just muscle and the heart is almost pure muscle) rather than the normal skin, eye lashes, snout etc that processed meat products are normally made of.

I would certainly imagine that the meat should be more ground up so that you cant tell what is in it. From a legal perspective there probably are no grounds, it may be unpleasent to think about but it isnt unsafe and probably is better than the normal rubbish. From a customer service perspective I am sure the store would give you a voucher for your distress.

Yes I agree with you. I'd certainly prefer to find that rather than glass or a plaster. It really does make you think though what junk really does go into this stuff. I think I'll mail them. Might get a voucher but certainly won't spend it on pasties.

So next time I go into a shop and buy a pasty - I have to say I want to pay for a 'nice meat one' and I'll pay the extra. :-)

Would you complain if your black pudding had blood in it?

Mind you, 2 1/2" is the size of a small mouse, and I think even my country teeth would have a problem chewing through that, so, yes, go back to the store and have a little moan, you might get a refund and a replacement.
