DH's objection to this being on the list was that he didn't think he (or anyone other than me) could be trusted to get the right thing. FOr goodness sake, all I want is a cheap set of cutters. It' snot difficult, is it?
If he is of the opinion that nobody else can be trusted, then why not suggest a bundle of Lakeland vouchers that you can spend at your leisure on exactly what you would like?0 -
Morning all!
bitsy - good vibes coming your way for a bogey free afternoon! x
diva - prayers still being offered up for Tris x
Essexgirl - hope garage stuff is okay - not caught up properly yet x
purple - list sounds a bit like mine! Cutter set in plastic cover is in Mr T's, think wilkos also do the same one. Perhaps you should just get out the Lakeland catalogue and mark the pages?! Kids think it's funny that I want a mixing bowl like my nan had when I was little, still at least they know I'll get lots of use from it.
Well it's bright and sunny here today, which is nice! Went to cinema last night, can thoroughly recommend The Men Who Stared at Goats, thought I did spend a fair bit of the film wondering why I hadn't heard that Tom Selleck was in it, turned out it was George Clooney with very suspect facial hair lol! Went for a curry afterwards, and then spent the night losing the curry, sorry if tmi! Thought my tummy bug was lingering a little too long, but ex has also lost his curry too and is suffering today - neither curry was particularly hot or spice, and the restaurant is usually really good, so a bit strange.
Just had post and realised that our membership has been automatically renewed for @Bristol (sort of hands on science place), sure I cancelled it! Never mind, will now make the most of it and take kids up there Saturday I think - might as well enjoy it, and we always enjoy the planetarium! Also got a local mag and reminded me that it's Christmas shopping night in Cheddar tomorrow, so fingers crossed it stays dry and then we can go and look at all the sparkly lights and the kids can eat hog roast and join in with all the activities. Got dd3's school fair on Sunday, so all getting very festive now! Might even get the tree up this weekend!
OS stuff today will involve cleaning, really good move everything hoover is needed in the sitting room. Will do it after ds has assembled his sisters' new bikes, he's desperate to do it! He's off school today as it's VIth form taster day, and he doesn't want to go to the one attached to his school - off to look at another later and see what he thinks! I can understand that he'd like to go somewhere bigger and just somewhere different, but it does mean we need to hunt around, and quickly!
Other OS stuff will include washing and cleaning the bathrooms, laminate floors need a good soapy scrub, rather dusty in the corners! Lunches will be something simple for ds, prob dry toast for me and will see how poorly dd1 is before I offer her food. dd2 took money for a hot lunch today, and dd3 had marmite sarnies, apple, hm choc mousse, and a stray pack of wotsits left from her visit to her dad!
Dinner tonight will be wraps I think, have some mild chilli to use up. Must grab some peppers out of the freezer and some mushrooms - seems as shame to use oyster and "posh" mushrooms for veg chilli, but they're the only ones in the freezer and I'm trying not to buy stuff unnecessarily!
Have promised dd3 we will make some sweets tonight, so making bugs from her fairy cook book - basically dark choc and white choc paste moulded into shapes, will be fun! Also making choc whirls - not sure what they are but she says we have the ingredients! dd2 wants to make gingerbread men, so really need to find a cutter. I shall be making ninjabread men at last if she lets me use some of the mix!
Hugs to all who need them, and many happy returns for any birthdays I've missed, hope all poorlies get well soon, and congrats to any that are due them! Have a good day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning everyone:wave:
Bread making today. I've got 16 rolls in the oven now and when they're done I'll divide my big batch of dough (4.5 lbs) into two small loaves and one giant sandwich loaf in my Pullman tin (loving this).
Lunch will be assorted leftovers. The kids have pitta pizzas, chocolate muffins, grapes and satsumas.
Supper will be some form of pasty. Flicking through Nigel Slater's Tender last night I think I saw an idea for swede and goat's cheese pasties, I may have imagined it but no matter, it sounds good to me. I may braise some red cabbage to go with the pasties.
I'm just about to start clearing out my dd's craft drawer. She has the bottom and deepest drawer of our old chest of drawers. It is stuffed with scraps of paper and tangled balls of yarn. The chest of drawers itself is in dire need of a facelift. I should really get on with painting it instead of maoning about it.
Have a productive afternoon everyone.0 -
Hi again ,just stopped to have a break from wrapping presents. All of my eldest DD's family are done I am just going to have lunch then tackle my youngest Dd's ones. They take the longest to wrap as there are seven of them.I managed to find my lost box of cards thank goodness that I made last February.I am so glad as I didn't want to suddenly have to make several dozen more.We all seem to be very industrious this morning on here, perhaps we are getting into the Christmas spirit at last.Oh well onwards and upwards
propbably will pop back when I have finished all the wrapping
Cheers chums

Afternoon all.
It's c-c-c-cold in Concrete Cow Country today, so my OS has consisted of making Shepherd Spy and very quickly walloping together a blackberry and apple pie, using up the last of the vodka-soaked blackberries. I didn't want to move away from the oven while they were cooking!:D
I was hoping not to have to go into Central MK again this side of Xmas, but I have to today to pick up some meds that weren't in stock last week at the pharmacy. Also Mr LW has to post a card to his cousin in Hungary, and while he's doing that, I need to find a birthday card for him. Wish me luck - I don't like wheeling myself around the shopping centre, and hope to goodness I don't have a panic attack!
His birthday is Saturday, and it's one with a 0 on the end, so I must find a nice card, not just one of my cobbled together HM ones.
Saturday is going to be busy; we need 2 new tires for the Jazz, so doing that first thing, then on to the Yule bazaar at the community centre near us at midday - I hope to find some cards there, as I can never find anyhing remotely suitable in the shops, and although I was going to try and make some, I just cannot summon any enthusiasm for the task.
Then Saturday evening, it's drinks and nibbles at the pub. Ginger beer for me, as I have to drive the Birthday Boy home afterwards!
((((HUGS)))) for all who want/need one today; and a candle will be lit again tonight for Tris.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Hi,
Just popped in to say hello. Took DS1 to Physio at local hospital. Physio very concerned about DS knee as he reckons there is serious ligament damage and referred him for urgent consultant and MRI scan....possible op. Now I queried this with the doc when I took him to A&E as his knee was really wobbly and unstable compared to his other one but she was having none of it. He has been hobbling around for three weeks with torn ligaments:mad: Hassle hassle.
OS - well doing the washing and my cleaner has been so we tidy for 10 minutes. Pizza for tea.
loves,
MollyxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

It may not be very OS, but while it's a biggish birthday it may be more convenient for you to look at the Hallmark website for a personalised card? I did one for a wedding earlier this year & the happy couple were very pleased with the finished article, it had a downloaded photo on & personalised wordingThere is Moonpig too...

Well DS did us proud and nary a nose pick in sight
He just spent the whole time biting his nails instead :rotfl:
He wouldn't wear his lamb headress but wore some very fetching white tights and a big baggy t-shirt. His face crumpled a couple of times when he saw us but considering at pre school last year he had to be removed from the stage I would say we've made some progress!
No idea what to do for tea. H has been chuffing bagels since we got back from school so might stick to a baked spud or something simple. I have the munchies though
It's been cold in the wind, about 7 degrees according to the car thermometer so I guess being in single figures and a bit a of breeze you can knock another couple of degrees off that. No idea if we are having a frost tonight as skies are clear at the mo.
Pleasant evening to everyone.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0
