Good Morning all
just waiting for my DGD to arrive, and she told me last night that I made the best bacon sandwiches in the world, so guess what she wants for breakfast this morning. She is enjoying her college placement in the local primary school, especially at this time of the year as the little ones get so excited and she seems to spend most of the time helping them make things for 'Mum'.
Today I am going to crack on with writing out my Christmas cards and wrapping some presents.I also am going to make a big pot of Leek 'n'tattie soup, some of which will go in the freezer, the rest of which will go into yours truly.
Sad to see that Maggi Jones has died.I loved her character in Corrie, she had some of the best lines, and delivered them in such a dead-pan way .A look from her to someone spoke a million words.Brilliant actress, and will be sadly missed I think.
Well better get a shift on as like the white rabbit in 'Alice' I shall be scurrying about very busily today.Have a good day everyone, and if its your birthday have a good one and hopefully get thoroughly spolit.
Cheers chums

Morning all
Dark and wet again here! Had very nice beef casserole with mash and veg last night for dinner, with a small portion left for the freezer - had to get it put into freezer container, cooled and in the fridge before OH saw it and helped himself to seconds! OH and DS1 had dumplings with theirs, but I had an extra veg. DS2 had his Cubs Xmas party so they are now finished until January, he has school Xmas disco next Wednesday. Will be making HM lasagne for dinner tonight but I'll do that later. Will be making some HM bread shortly and possibly an apple crumble (mum and dad gave us some free apples and now need to use them up). Still being really good with the diet, but not sure I've lost anything this week as have lost 2lb each week for the past 2 weeks - think some of the weight loss last week was due to stress with dad not being so good, but next week is looking like a busy and very stressful week so am not particularly looking forward to the beginning of the week, but have DS1 birthday on Wednesday, hopefully things will have settled down by then and the worst should be over.
Today's jobs are 2 loads to go in the TD and then they needing ironing, maybe enough in the wash basket for another wash. Need to do housework - bathrooms, bedrooms, landing and stairs, dining room, lounge and kitchen. Am really trying to keep on top of it all so it doesn't take so long and so far it is helping but we are away at friends from tomorrow night until Sunday pm so must get everything done and have all work/school uniforms ready so not too much to do when we get back, as I know I won't want to do much!
Have to go now, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

His beautifully-painted door now has an ugly piece of MDF where the glass should be until we can get a new piece cut.
We had an ugly bit of MDF in ine of the doors at my parents house after my brother pushed me into the glass bit of the door and it smashed. It stayed there for 5 years!!!

Hello,
MSD - hope you are doingok. Positive thoughts for Tris
Redruby - hope that you hear about your house soon.
I had a very unproductive day yesterday. A report required my attention and lots of phone calls. Why is life so complicated and stressful. No OS for me and noodles for tea for kids :T
I have to drive DS1 to physio this am as he knac***ed his knee playing rugby two weeks ago:mad: He has been hobbling around feeling very sorry for himself.
I had a very companionable time with DD yesteday as she has wednesday off college (study day? hah hah). Her mood is improving so I feel hopeful. Conversely my youngest son(13) who has the most sunny of dispositions was in a horrid mood last night with lots of swearing....:eek:
So I need to get a wiggle on as I have to get organised for cleaner today and pop some washing in and sort my DW. I still have not done the tree or bought any more pressies. Ohhhhhhhhhh................
Have a good day,
Love Molly xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
morning all!
Diva - thankyou for the PM - I am thinking of you
Mioliere - thankgoodness your DH is ok! x
Aussie - hope Mr Aussie is not too sore x

JackieO - I agree with you about Blanche in Corrie - she was a brilliant actress!
Back to work today but only a short 6 hour shift as I've bookes some toil for tonight. I'm off to prize bingo tonight in aid of our charity - so fingers crossed I win something nice!:D
OS - house clean and tidy - washing on airer - tea is quorn sweet and sour for me - burgers for the men.
Thats is for now- off for a browse xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all :hello:
DD2 has succumbed to the bug I had, poor thing started being sick at 3am, luckily her room is right next to the bathroom so I haven't neede to scrub any carpets....yet...
Normally at the beginning of December I switch to a blend of orange and cinnamon in my aromatherapy burners, but I have now tweaked this substituting mandarin for orange and nutmeg for cinnamon (better anti viral properties) and have added some eucalyptus, reputed to kill airborne germs. The effect is a bit clinical and not quite as festive as I had hoped.
Purpleivy - I can understand your reaction about your christmas/birthday lists. Two years ago DD1 decided my wish list was "boring" and as a result got the usual smellies, etc instead of my cake tin, cook book, jelly bag.. which I had asked for. I suppose that my face on Xmas must have given me away as last year I got two cook books and various bits of kitchen gadgetry. Even DD1's BF gave me a mortar and pestle :rotfl: (Note to self: NEVER play poker :rotfl:)
MSD I am glad Tris has pulled through the latest crisis. I have a candle patterned with snowflakes which I have been lighting for him. I would like to think he would approve. Do you think when NORAD do the Santa tracking thing online on Xmas Eve they will pick up all the OS vibes being sent from here to the US?
Well I don't know what OS stuff will happen here today hugs as always to all that need them, have a lovely day all.
Not sure what is going to happen OS0 -
Morning All
Before I start celyn90 try looking in an Aldi or Lidl, they have lots of eastern european type of xmas things, mainly food, but iced gingerbread houses, stollen (though that weighs a lot) but one of them has packets of stollen fingers which I have resisted, etc.:T
Belated birthday wishes Mr & Miss Redruby, Prayers and thoughts for Tris and anyone else who needs one atm. :grouphug:
Jayward, Bitzy, Molly, P-Pin hope you are soon feeling better.
Sunnyday - how is the kitchen doing??
Yesterday we went to collect our new TV from Richer Sounds at Hull, we don't have one in Donny, they were the cheapest and we have friends at Hull we haven't seen since September, so a win win,and went for a cheapy carvery with them last night. Also managed to call in their B&Q on oldies day and get some more pipe lagging, and a trip around Makro for bulk bleach and white vinegar. Arrived home 10.30pm and guess who ended up putting the new stand and TV together before we went to bed, simple enough, but not when we have sky box, HDD Recorder, Surround Sound and a VCR to plait together, while DH put the stand together wires are my job:rolleyes:. I did manage to get the TV working with Sky and tuned in, but didn't check any of the others, so guess what this morning's job is. DH will happily do all the cleaning duties while I short "his" TV out (well I am normally on here!).;)
This p.m. we have Sky coming to upgrade the sky system as DH's Xmas pressie, I managed to negotiate free installation as well as the free box.
Must start wrapping pressies and get the cards down with the paper so can start writing those, think I have enough cards and paper from last year:o.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning all!
MSD - Glad Tris is still with us, I guess you must feel so helpless being so far away.
Another batch of Christmas shopping done yesterday, DH is so impressed with what I have done so far. Its just shopping! I need something more exciting for my mum, she asked for chopping boards, so have got her 3, but that is so dull and un-Christmassy. Not to mention that the bloke at the cash desk managed to put his fingers through the cellophane wrapping as he put it in the bag. But DD (who had already carried it around the shop in her pushchair) had already ripped some of the cellophane, so I'll just let mum know that I had a little elf helping me
Going to finish the ironing and the other bathroom today. Dinner is chilli wraps, and hopefully I'll get to finish the Christmas cards this evening. Thursdays have now been designated 'no screen night' in our house as too many evenings are being spent in front of the telly and the laptop to no particular advantage, and since DH can't watch TV and talk at the same time, we can go days without a meaningful conversation :S
Have a good day all

Morning all,
Another one who can't wait for Christmas here :j Thanks Tru for the song, has put me in a very happy and festive mood :A
MSD - still thinking of Tris and praying for you both
Terrible journey to work this morning. Not sure why but the traffic was nose to nose practically from our door to where DH drops me off. I did manage to get in before the rain started though, just hope it's not doing this on my dinner hour so I can pop out and buy some more Christmas pressies!
Felt a bit rough when I got home last night. Sat and chatted to mate on facebook for a while which probably wasn't a good idea as I had real trouble motivating myself afterwards. I still managed to cook a gorgeous stew, but somehow made enough dumplings to feed the population of China! Not entirely sure how that happened so have rather more dumpling than stew for our lunches today but hey ho
OS today is going to be starting knitting some decs for our Christmas tree - that is if I can find some wool that doesn't cost the earth. Always used to get it in Allders, but now that the chain has closed and this is the only "flagship" store, the haberdashery department is a bit pants...
Have a lovely day OS or otherwise, hugs to all xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,
What you've been out there searching for forever is in your hands0 -
