Try your Farm Shop/Butcher

I also try and get all my meat from my local farm shop. They have given me a pricelist with the price per kilo, some of it is slightly more than supermarket prices but mostly the same, but the quality is far superior. Im not a huge steak fan, but we got 2 sirloins for a special occasion, they melted in the mouth like butter. There steak pies were also fantastic, the bacon has no any water coming out when cooking it. They can also tell you the provinence (sp?) of everything they sell. If they dont rear or grow it, they get it all within the local area. I also get a veg box from Stair organic grocers, the veg is so tasty and actually looks like 'real' veg rather than the clean, plastic perfectly shaped stuff from the supermarket.
As long as I plan meals ahead then I dont spend stupid amounts, I make sure I know the weight of what i need before I go. When I go to the supermarket i look at all the packs, look at ideal pack sizes and jot them down so i know what im asking for.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
My best buy in the butcher's was brisket, a lovely rolled joint weighing 1.5kg for £5.00.0
