Kirstie's Homemade Christmas

Personally I thought the programme was patronising claptrap. Who on earth 'saves money' by buying fabric at £95 per metre to make a teddy bear? As for the glass blowing...World Peace in 20100

I too won't be spending £95 per metre but the idea behind all the craft work is great. I too love handmade presents, but not on the same budget so I am taking some of her ideas and adapting to suit my budget. eg I love the cake and have already been out and bought the glitter etc for the tree. I'm sure the aim is to inspire us to look beyond our usual ideas.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

Maybe it's money saving for the rich
I quite fancy making a nice teddy bear but I'm sure it will be just as loved if I made it from fake fur or fleece from the local haberdashery shop
I'm also interested in making soap and candles, I had already decided to try my hand at bath bombs.
I think I'll add some "How to . . ." books to my list for Father Christmas

i just loved watching the programme for what it is a bit of entertainment and so far ive loved it, its given me lots of ideas for xmas 2010, of course i wouldnt spend as much as she has but things can be easily adapted and the idea of old books and items from market ect for pressies is a good idea, i know my nan would like it and prob my mum too, i think its hampers for everyone next year so ill have a whole fun year of going round the booties looking for bits to fill them. looking forward to tonights programme they have really got me even more in the festive spirit, loved loved loved the teddy and the candles looked lush especially since recipe looked so easy, one for outside though and a child free day:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Oh dear people seem to be enjoying giving her a bit of a bash!
I love this, and everything about Kirstie. She is what I would have loved to be. She gives a lovely display of a carefree childhood which continues into her adulthood and is fortunate enough to be blessed with a good upbringing and some money to boot. (and to say her family and her have probably worked very hard to get it!)
I love watching her shows, she sends me off into dream world of life in happy land.
I watched with interest, and like many others will go ahead and do the salt dough with my son this weekend, but the rest can be aspirational, and I can tell myself some time in the future.
A bit of aspirational tv never hurt anyone!0 -
this was the first time i'd watched it, as others have said some things were way pricey to make (teddy bear etc) but there was loads of ideas too!...there is an easier way to make soap (melt and pour) which i'll be doing next year as i already make bath bombs...i liked the decoration with the beads and ribbons, i think i'll get some coloured glass beads and some wire and make decorations for the tree next year with the kids and also use it to wrap around a plain candle...the chutney looked fab! i'd love to give that a try.totally a tog!:D0

i really want to give the chutney a go, but this programme was a bit late for cold press soap! i went for bath bombs as well as when i looked into it it seemed a bit cheaper and my lot love the ones out of lush.....it was a bit annoying that she went to all these places to knock up her christmas stocking and her beautiful soap if you were doing it from scratch it would be considerably more complicated! did you see that huge Maslin pan the chutney woman had i was so envious, i make do in my kitchen but your ikea pots arent a patch on that thing!Every Penny's a prisoner :T0

We laughed at the bit where she appeared with her furry hat and coat and THE most vivid scarlet lipstick ever. I reckon that must have been a £50 lipstick at least. Such an intense colour.
I'm sure Kirstie's really nice but she's not really of this world is she, bless her:rolleyes:
i love kirstie to bits, but i did laugh out loud! i think it was the shock and my mind took a few nanoseconds to figure out what was on her head..good on her for being so bold!;)totally a tog!:D0 -
I will be making the stockings for next year as I plan to go for a homespun theme.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
