So how do you manage to canvass your whole territory? And how big is your territory? Do you put books out and collect a week later and then put them out elsewhere on your territory?
When I first started I had about 100 houses. I would put out my 20 books and collect them a few days later, ie, 3 days later, any that weren't left out I would knock for, put a card through the door asking for it back. The same books would then be dropped at the next 20 houses or however many books I got back for 3 days, and so on. If my whole territory was not covered by the time the campaign ended, I would use those books to cover the houses not covered the first time, and the new books to recanvass the territory that had the first book.0 -
Oh and I would put a note on the front saying if you do not want to see an avon book, please tick this box. It saved me canvassing them again, if they didn't want to see it.
Then this year I recanvassed my whole territory as it had been nearly a year including those who didn't want a book, saying you might like to see one now. If you still don't want to, tick this box.0 -

Yes, I drop on a Wednesday and pick up the following Tuesday, then drop again on the Wednesday. That means I can usually fit in 3 drops per campaign if I'm organised. I can always do at least 2.
My territory is around 100 houses, so I order 40 books per campaign for my territory. Half is on the back campaign, half are on the current campaign.
A week is probably too long to leave the books, but my OH works away for 2 nights a week so I do my avon while he is away. That's just how it works for me.
I'm a "stuffer" rather than a caller, meaning I just drop to everyone (except those who have a no cold callers sticker or have said no thanks) and lose any books for those people who don't leave them out and don't answer the door.
Not sure the maths works out there, but it seems to work for me!!!0 -
Thanks ladies for all your advise! Do you mind me asking how much you you think you earn in commission per campaign?0

Hi snailien
it is really hard to quantify it. As when I first started I earnt nothing, it took me a good few months to earn anything.Whereas a Rep I signed up last week, her order has to be in tomorrow, already has £100 worth of orders to submit. I have another Rep who is not making any money at all.0 -

Spend around £8 on brochures which means I'm making about £30 each campaign WITHOUT spending on anything else like incentives (99p items for highest order etc), samples if necessary. Oh and stuff for myself!!0 -
Avg campaign sales around £150 means 25% commission = £37.50

Yeah it's not an awful lot is it... but it all helps.
How much time would you say you spend doing AVon stuff?
Do you get a discount on stuff for yourself?!0 -
Yes but I'm still building up the area I guess, particularly one road which has never been canvassed before. I'm pretty happy with still picking up 3-4 new customers each campaign.
Yes you get 25% discount on everything you order from the books, just not on things from Hello Tomorrow (includes samples, stationery, etc).
Means that if something is on offer AND you get 25% off it, its probably cheaper than buying toiletries from the supermarket.0 -
The thing is snailien, you might live in an area where lots of people want to buy Avon and you make a large amount of discount each month. I live in an area saturated with Avon reps.
My friend who lives in a completely different area to me makes £100-£150 each month!
I personally do avon full time as a Sales Leader, have to look for reps, etc. Before I became one I spent about 20 hrs a week, prepping, delivering, etc.
Yes, you do get a discount on stuff for yourself.Hello Tomorrow Magazine, (HT) is your discount magazine and if you buy items from the book and your order is over MOV, you will get a discount on them too.0
