Avon Hints and Tips (Part 3)

Just thought that I should say that I spoke to Avon Customer Services on Friday and it was a very successful experience.
One of my friends bought 3 mineral foundations in my C18 (November!) and said they were way too dark. I said to her that it was fine, she just needed to send them back to me (she's at my work but in a different building) and I'd organise a replacement. After much badgering (!!) she sent them back to me last week. I rang Avon as my C18 invoice was no longer on line and explained the situation. They have replaced the product, AND given me an additional credit as the product is now more expensive than it was in November.
Well done Avon! I am still in shock.
After all the moaning and questioning I've done on here, just thought I should share a happy experience!!0 -

no, LOL, I wish it was. I am doing the Make £10 a Day Challenge on one of the threads, but know I can't, so opted for £5 a day.
Basically anyway I can make an extra £5 a day is counted, finding money in the street, mystery shopping, coupon saving on shopping, winning money, bingo, scratchies, surveys, overtime...I don't work for a company to pay me overtime, selling stuff on ebay, amazon, anywhere.
It's quite a good challenge and the forum thread is very motivating. Ebay has 2 free days of listing this week, so am going to get stuff listed and hopefully sold, so my house looks less like a jumble sale and more like a home.0 -
Hi I had read all the tips for beginners but am still trying to understand... perhaps someone can help? I am about to have a baby and am thinking of becoming a rep for extra cash...
So... I buy the catalogues in packs of five. Say I needed enough catalogues to do my street and a few surrounding streets I'd probably need 100+ catalogues. That would cost me roughly (based on three packs costing £4.87 and each additional pack are about 48p). That would cost initially... £13.03?? And it would cost me that much every 3 weeks when the new catalogue comes out?
ANd then I would need to get 7.2 orders of £20 to order goods of £144 (To get commission of 20% there is usually a minimum order value of around £74 and for 25% its around £144) and on that I would make £36? Less the cost of catalogues means I'll have made £22.97 in 3 weeks?
Is that correct? What kind of level of sales should you be expecting to make when you start? How many catalogues do you get in your first sign up?
Thanks, sorry if that's too many questions?!!0 -

ok BROCHURES......you get given your first 40 brochures. 20 for your 1st camp and 20 for your 2nd. after that its up to you how many packs you order as those free ones should have helped you 'canvas' - work out who is/isnt interested in seeing a brochure.
you can always back order from the previous camp so say you ordered 4 packs of 5 you would always have 40 books to go round. you dont need 100 books because you re-use them and put in the time to go back and collect/re-drop. so you would be spending about £5 each camp BUT it should come out of whatever commission you get.camp 12=£443 13=£425 14=£277 15=£474 16=£492 17=£438 18=£437 1=£319 2=£153:o 3=£220 :jSALES LEADER:j4=£202 5=£191 6=£167 7=£193 8=£216 9=£211

Cool thank you sophisoph... So you just re-use and deliver the new books to people you know you'll get a return from? And I guess you can get those books out every week to someone else?
Am I correct re: commission?0 -
Hi Snailien
all reps work differently. Some will recanvass their territory every campaign with whatever books they get back, some will only canvass their regular customers and alternate months or every 3 months recanvass their whole territory.
I think when you are first starting out, it is a good idea to try and canvass your territory for the first 3 months, that gives people a chance to get used to you, see you are coming back regularly and then they might start to order if they didn't the first time.
Minimum Order Value (MoV) is £78, for you to get 20% discount, High Order Value (HoV) is £154, for you to get 25% discount.0 -

Thanks - yes I am on my 6th Campaign and so 3rd month and I am still canvassing my whole territory. That might seem a bit extreme, but I am still picking up 3-4 new customers each campaign so I think its worth it at the moment.
(Plus if one of my aims is to get some exercise, then all that pounding the streets is a plus point, eh?!!)
I keep thinking about only canvassing every 2 or 3 campaigns, but then I think of whats coming up (mothers day, summer, new fragrances) and I end up canvassing everyone again!!
By the way - I thought HOV was £148, has it changed?0 -

So how do you manage to canvass your whole territory? And how big is your territory? Do you put books out and collect a week later and then put them out elsewhere on your territory?0 -
oops thanks Claregre, think I have been telling my new reps the wrong amount again! I can never get it into my head that it is £148, don't know why.0
