Daily Thread - 2nd December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2nd December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all,
Thought I'd pop on now and start the thread as I'm off shopping in an hours time. I was going to do it this morning but I thought DS2 was coming up to make phone calls. He went out last night with DS1 and managed to lose his wallet. He arrived around lunch time  funny that, and seems to have it under control now. DH has just arrived home so I'll head off to the shops. The solar panel blokes aren't here yet but DH can handle all that.
Off to visit my DSis tomorrow & DGS also is arriving which is a lovely surprise and staying for a week or two. Tonights tea will be pot luck.
Not as hot today, dark clouds are hanging around, I just hope the weather holds until I get back.
jc2703 Hugs to you and your son. I'm so glad it was unsuccessful & that he gets lots of help & support.
PP I echo what Haribo said. I bet your new little dog Radley is giving you much needed love & licks.
Bitsy Would another job help? I know there are hard to come by atm but even actively looking for something else may brighten him up.
Well I hope you all have lovely day. Be good.

Morning OS friends.
Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
I will just substitute til Tru comes back to us and treats us all to carols every day again!!Hi Aussiegirl hon! Have fun shopping.
Essexgirl - OMG honey, just read about the car and your garage. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
HeavenLeigh - Good to have you back but sorry to hear your bad news.
Janie - I think you are lovely to downplay your birthday, what a super sister you are.
Pen-Pin - Healing vibes coming your way. So sorry you are having this extra worry.
flutterby - bighoney
Marie - Step away from the chocolate!
celyn -That cake looked fabulous and as usual your earrings are adorable
SunnyGirl - cardi's over nighties have been de rigueur in this house on more than one occasion!
jc - Thinking of you and your son and his poor friend.
redruby - I assume one of those birthday cards is for me as mine is coming up shortly??
Prettypaula - I think it might have been
Hester - I am sorry you had a bad day hon.
Zippy - at least you had the experience of an interview, and sounds like they need someone like you!Hip is still hurting. I couldn't get up off my chair without my OH pulling me up very slowly all day yesterday. Must have been the cold when I was out in the garden but hope it will ease off.So any OS-iness is severely curtailed. I will do some card making I imagine today if OH can bring down the Christmas craft box from the top of the wardrobe, and help with dinner which is going to be cheese and bacon pasta bake. With the rest of the YS cabbage cooked in a little garlic and oil. And of course I will make the sandwiches for lunch as ever, though if my OH doesn't pick up some cheese or ham today it will be peanut butter for him and p/b and vegemite for me.I would have gone out into the garden again today but literally couldn't manage to get down the stairs due to my hip, so a bit trapped for now...
I hope everyone has a good day today. To anyone feeling under the weather- get well soon. With love, light and
for all.

Morning all
Off to work soon, I wonder what today will bring?
Hubby woke me in the middle of the night, screaming, I thought he was having a nightmare, turns out it was cramp, poor soul. Took me ages to drop of again, the adrenalin was still racing.
Liver & onions for tea last night & enough left for the same again tonight, washing is up to date & hubby will do the washing machine later.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning.
Cool and damp here.
We got most of the Decorations up last night, just a few odd things left that will probably get thrown or given away.
Our big artificial tree was starting to show signs of wear, so could be the last year. £22 in the sale 4 years ago (8 feet) was not bad I guess. Anyway it all looks pretty good.
Work shortly, then late night shopping in Truro. Great atmosphere there and worth going.
Well, have a good dayNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Hi Hester hon - that must have been scary. I get cramp sometimes and have to get my OH to rub my calf for me, it's so painful! I hope you have a good day at work today.
Hi N9eav - 8ft tree huh? Wish I had room for a tall one like that but we just don't have the floor space so our 5 ft one has to sit up on the sideboard. And we don't have a real one either but the artificial one looks good.
Wow Aussie? Still here? I thought you would have been out shopping by now it's been 3 hrs :rotfl:- or did you decide to stay and sort out the solar panel people? I would love solar panels but they are SO expensive over here. Have fun shopping when you get there anyway.
Have fun all!

Been & home already
I also got soaked. Threw the cold stuff in the fridge & freezer and just enjoying a cuppa while I dry off.
The last solar cell has been installed. DH said they were here for all of 20 mins & it was pouring. He lent them raincoats and they traipsed mud all through the house. But DH is house trained and it was all cleaned up before I came home. :A
HH Vitamin B12 is said to be really good for cramps like that. It's one of the pricey vitamins though. Are you sure you didn't take to him with your whips.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning peeps
quite a bit warmer here this morning as it has rained in the night so although i hate the rain the rise in temperature is more than welcome.
Managed to find time to hang the washing up on the radiators this morning before i left the house, hopefully most of it will be dry by the time i get home, the ironing pile is growing at an increasing rate as i just don`t have the time to tackle it at the moment.
Diva - I hope that your hip improves quickly, it can be very annoying when you want to move around but just can`t.
PP - ((((HUGS)))) for you.
Heavenleigh - Welcome back!
Essex girl - Glad no one was hurt and hope that you get everything sorted out quickly.
Flutterby / JC ((((HUGS)))) for you both too.
Hope that all the poorlies are feeling better today, so many people that i know are ill right now. I`m convinced that a lot of it is to do with the weather being so changeable. Warm one minute and cold the next, our little bodies don`t really know what to expect next.
I think that i`m in for a busy day today so need to get ahead, ((((HUGS)))) to anyone that i`ve managed to miss. I`ll pop back later to catch up.
Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning :hello:Money_saving_Diva wrote: »Til Tru comes back to us and picks up the carols for us!!
I'm backI came here this morning to start the carols - thought it was 1st december today  :rotfl: Had a few hassles, including miss tru moving in with her boyfriend, going missing (police round 3 times in 12 hours isn't nice, specially when those 12 hours start at 1.30am. The police were fab, three cheers for them, lol). But she's back home now and split up with boyfriend. Let's hope it's permanent. FIL has been in hospital - it was basically 'change your lifestyle or die within 6 months'. Thankfully he listened and is doing well. There's more niggles but I thought I'd just mention the major ones.
The kitchen is a mess at the mo - bare brick, loose (but safe) sockets and wobbly units where we've had to move them around to smash the render and plaster off. I've got bits of worktop to work on, but nothing big enough to get kneading, mixing and rolling out on so cooking is a pain.
There's a recipe on page 59 of the Asda mag - Surprise Puds - they look yummyJust need to buy almonds then I can get cracking with those.
Mr tru threw some leftover toast to the chickens a few days ago. Since then, whenever they hear the toaster pop up, they're at the door for more
I must have missed loads of birthdays and stuff, so have a cake :bdaycake:Bulletproof0 -

Hi Tru - Don't worry, I loved posting the carol and will happily fill in when you can't do it, but it's a pleasure to have you back and posting with us again! Sorry you have had so many hassles - I have tried to pm but you are always full to the brim!!
Sunny - have a good day hon
Halight - I agree, the year has whizzed by.

Good Morning All
Hello again Tru :hello:
MSD - hope you are not so stiff today.
Middle of the week thankfully, will be very glad when this week is over. Was meant to have a Hopi Ear Candle this morning but had to cancel as off out with OH to pick a lorry up. Hope not too late back from this as still have loads of paperwork to get through.
House is also a complete mess think will concentrate on that Thurs & Fri then next week really get my act together for Xmas - hate being this disorganised.
OH will start going through the garage later writing down what is damaged and missing. Builder coming at 3 to give us a quote. The insurance assesor confirmed the damage is substantial and she has concerns about the roof - we will see.
Anyway for the life of me cant remember what was on the menu plan for tonight - will have a look and possible a change around.
Have a good day.x0
