BT Connection Charges (merged threads)

Hi everyone
i am currently with sky and have line rental, broadband and phone with them, it is still a BT line.
i have just bought a new house and will be moving into it soon. i have enquired to BT how much it would be to be connected, it already has a line going to the house, i can see it and it also has a BT master socket so in my eyes it is a reconnection
today they told me the following charges £127.99 and another charge £71.52
the £127.99 seems to be a new line and i would imagine the other would be for an engineer, not entirely sure as they spoke to my partner
i have yet to speak to sky about this as it is difficult to get through to them and i have been busy with work and doing the house
i am in hope that someone here has had similar experience and can shed some light on the situation for me so i know where i stand before i approach a resolve
thanks0 -

Sky are able to arrange a new connection and provide line rental etc if the feel like it.
It might take a while.;)

If you take line rental and bb unlimited with sky you will get for either £29 or free it varies from time to time
Just been trained sky is changing theyre systems soon so when you order a new line they will tell you then and there when it will be installed which is pretty nice and theyre saying within 5 weeks max to us0 -

Hi
Just to tell you my experience with sky
About 6 weeks ago connection was requested and we had a letter that sky tv will be installed in the same week and telephone line on 28th feb.Today, they we were waiting whole day but no sign of them. Then we called the sky and were told that engineer is on the way ,got stuck in traffic, etc.I called them again at 7 pm and was shocked to know that 1st cs was just guessing the reasons and real truth was that order got stuck in their system. Now they want me to wait for more 5 weeks to get the line installed. They are a complete time waste.0 -
So we have been living in a rented house for almost 3 years now, and have been using BT Basic and BT broadband since our first month here. We just recently discovered that the house we are renting has been sold, so we have been forced to move elsewhere.
Problem is, we rang BT earlier and they claim that we will have to pay a £130 connection fee to this new house. The house has been rented out before, and we cannot, in any way, afford this (especially since we are only here on a 6 month lease). We can barely afford the rent on this new house that we have to live in, as it is the only suitable house in the area.
We are also tied into a contract with BT on broadband and telephone services. Are we expected to pay for these services despite not being able to use them as we cannot afford the connection charge?
Thanks.0 -
Don't get me started on BT! It has taken them 3 1/2 months to connect us to our new house; they have cut us off 3 times at our old house; charged us £175 moving fee (didn't pay) "leaving BT" fee when we're trying to stay (didn't pay) given us new phone numbers and bills to match when they reconnected us; (didn't pay) told us we have DAX (?) on the line and implied its our fault! We've complained 4 times to the MD of customer services - no response, waste of time; spent hours on the phone to them - useless, they still go at their own sweet pace; they've missed every single deadline they set and yet we're supposed to have been prioritised - I could go on...... Trouble is when you live in the sticks you have no choice its BT or tumbleweed. Then they send you ridiculous customer surveys asking how polite the last person you spoke to was. It's not the staff's fault - its the company that's rotten!!!!:mad:0

Hm, having some problems with BT at the min.
Moving house, read the BT home moving website to learn about charges for new connection. Website clearly states £130 for engineer visit to premises only:BT.com wrote:our standard connection charge of £130 may apply if we need to send an engineer out to your property
Fair enough, so I get the process in motion and book an eng appointment.
Then, on the day engineer was due to come out I get a text message saying he doesn't need to visit my property at all and that I can be connected remotely. Bonus, I thought, as I won't have to pay for him coming out surely.
But apparently not since BT have decided to charge me the visit fee anyway, which they are now claiming after the fact is a general 'connection fee' despite the website stating quite obviously that it's for a visit to the property, and that being the only thing I agreed to be charged for in the first place.
Then today the customer services agent tried to tell me they didn't want to charge me at all but there was some UK law that made them :rotfl:. He then told me I should sue if I disagreed.0
