BT Company Representative should spot this and ask you to contact them at their email address quoting your A/C and phone number and a link to this post. They should then get you a refund.

You could be proactive though - email them at btcare@bt.com with that information.

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Thanks very much much for the info, I'll get an email off to them now - see if that helps things along.

  • Hi,

I’m new to this forum, and have tried to search for someone with the same issue as me but the thread is so long I’ve probably missed it.

My boyfriend and I had a BT phone line installed last week, with a discounted price. We received a BT order confirmation which clearly states we are entitled to a £98 credit - which saves us £100 off the new line installation cost. The order confirmation states that the total one off charge will be 29.99, plus our monthly line rental
    Total one-off charges

    £29.99

    Total monthly charges

    £11.54

However BT are now saying that the discount does not exist. We have sent them their original order confrimation (above) which clearly states the credit we are entitled to, but they are refusing to honour this discount. I understand that credit means it'll be credited back to the monthly bills, BUT at the moment BT are saying this will not happen. the most they are going to offer us is £12 off as compensation for the phone calls my partner has had to make.

Can any one advise? We do not pay by direct debit so the invoice from BT has not been paid, as we want to get the inconsistencies addressed before parting with cash.

    Any advice/help etc appreciated.

    Thanks!

Time and time again we get confusion such as you describe regarding such offers from BT. It is always as a result of BT personnel being so poorly trained that they make things up as they go along and customers are supposed to accept what they say.

That is why BT customer representative will (I hope) post in this thread shortly asking you to make contact via their email address (btcare@bt.com) with details of your BT account (name, address, phone number, A/C number etc.) and a link to your post above.

If they don't post, do an email anyway.

    arghh, damn BT

Thought I was getting a good deal with them

£143.87 for the year including £35 connection charge.

But it got cancelled as they cant do the line saver + discounted connection charge, so I have one or the other.

Now it looks as though O2 line may be cheaper.

I no longer have a BT account having moved from them earlier this year, although I have a problem with my phone line - basically in November last year I had an engineer out who replaced the main box (at a cost of £125) now I have exactly the same problem again - no dial tone, and when using the master socket no internet connection either, but using the test socket I do get a dial tone and internet connection. Most companies provide a 12 month warranty - does anyone know if this applies with BT? Thanks in advance

  • Just a word of warning:

I've just got off the phone with BT. They are charging me £15.45 (again) for not making enough calls on my BT land line.

When installed, I went for 'Option 3', a BT line and Broadband package. I thought this would be useful as we could make use of the wireless broadband phone downstairs, putting the 'wired' line upstairs. Consequently we never make any calls on the 'wired' line.

Each quarter I have phoned BT and they have waived their 'Minimum Calls' fee. - the requirement is to make 10 calls per month or 30 calls per quarter. I've shown that we have made more than 30 calls, on the BT Broadband phone. Nowhere in the T&C's is it mentioned that you have to make the calls on the landline...

"Minimum call commitment applies – you must make at least 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month (30 calls per quarter)."

They are now refusing to take this charge from my bill, which they have previously done twice before!

It ended in a rediculous phone call with the call centre person saying that "This was clear, yes?", and me replying "No!", time and time again.

This also means that the BT Broadband Hub phone (and line) is effectively worthless to us. I'm now going to have to connect a wired phone. Oh, and contact friends and family with another phone number change.

Oh - they will also want to charge me £140 to finish the contract early.

My advice is not to go with BT unless you absolutely have to. Luckily I look after telecoms at work - this is going to cost them.

The first part of that last sentence worries me a little but, as business telecoms contracts and costs are entirely diferent, I suppose you not understanding the T&Cs for your residential setup is possible.

Anyway, if F&F have your BT Broadband Talk number as your contact number, why not leave that as it is and simply use a 5 prefix to make ten quick calls to 020 7043 1320 (a geographical number for the speaking clock) each month to meet the requirement - it'd take you less than 2 minutes and help reduce your blood pressure!
