On the same note as the earlier msg, i am in rented accomodation and have to move as my landlord wants his property back, ive found another property in the block and called BT to transfer my current phone/broadband package over to the new No..... BT say not our line (Sky) therefore I need to pay a connection fee of £120.
If your line is with Sky, get Sky to move it. What's it got to do with BT?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I was in Tesco and the girl selling Sky said if I took Sky tv and Skytalk and Sky Broadband they'd reconnect my landline for £39.

I had this as well, just keep trying, eventually you will get someone who knows. I know a friend who just said that they were transferring from Virgin even though they weren't (they weren't even in a cabled area). BT have no way of checking if you say you don't want to move your number.

Problem is I am in a new build, so it has never been connected before, I have a bt vision box outside my house so I knowall the cables are in.
I rang again the and all he said was you will have to do offer online, he can't see that it would be a virgin only offer...and then my mobile lost signal typically.
Would it be better to ring in the week rather than weekend although can't see that that would make any difference.

It isn't a Virgin only offer, you just need to find someone who knows that. It took three calls for me to get it. Somewhere in these posts someone will have said the best number to call and who to ask for, also find the link to the page on the BT site and quote the reference in the BT price list.

If you have problems getting the £29.99 connection offer refer them to the T&C where its clearly outlined.
