That's really sad (and good at the same time iyswim). My dress has been kicking about the loft for 20 years and still has a small coke stain on it. Would they be interested do you think? Would the material be laundered or would they want the sender to launder it first?
Hi, yes I know what you mean, its just there are hardly any people making these items and it is nice to be able to offer a real buriel outfit instead of just using babygrows etc. I think they would be interested, I know that my mother in law usually puts them in the washing machine and then hangs then out in the line. They really appreciate all the kind donations they recieve.0 -
Purple, I looked on the website, and am going to see if I can do something to help. It had me very upset - touched at the cause. I'v started crying again now just typing this. Anyway, your Mum is a lovely person
Aliasjo, BIN MORE! Stop wavering. (easy to say i know)A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

The local hospital is a good place to try as well, as when the worst happens, even though they try to persuade the parents to wait, it must make a difference for the parents to see their children with a pretty cover rather than the standard stuff used for adults.
I did a spot of work experience at our local hospital and the chief mortician guy said he tried to get funding for something a bit nicer for the children, but he just managed to get enough for a cot. He was very good at his job and it was illuminating and moving to see how he handled the poor little mites with so much respect and tenderness. The maternity unit had some nice things, but they stayed there, as did anything for the children's ward, none of which were anywhere near his block.
So I dropped off a big bundle of boilable bedding the following week.
I hope in some way that it helped someone.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
zippychick - hugs to you, it is upsetting but on the plus side they make a huge amount of difference to the families. If they were not doing it there would be very little provided. If you are able to help I know they would really appreciate it. They are always looking for people to knit and sew items for them. The need for the items they make is huge. My friend recently had her son 9 weeks early and I was able to see first hand a room full of babies sleeping under blankets made by bonnie babies, it was amazing.
Jojo - thats so sad, yet lovely that he cared so much. Its shocking that he had to try to get funding for a cot, I would have assumed they would just have that. I am sure the bedding you gave him was greatfully recieved. Before my MIL told me about bonnie babies I had never considered where these kind of items would come from and was very surprised to see how much is done by charity. We really are very lucky to live in a society where we have charities who do things that would otherwise not be done because of money.0 -
Can we quit the heart string stories plllleaaase, I've a reputation of being a hard northener and its shattered here..
I'm going to donate my dress but am going to keep a piece for me if thats okI'll sort that out over christmas, I have the pics and won't ever even try it on. I've deliberated all evening and I (as I cry again) can't think of a better cause.

panda that is so lovely of you. Just as long as you are very sure that you want to part with it and of course they wouldn't mind you keeping a bit. They use so many different parts of the fabric for different things. If you join the forum you can see a lot more pictures of the items they make as well as a lot more detail about where they go and what they do.0

I've read purplegirls post and it brought a tear to my eye for thoses babies, I'm contemplating sending off my wedding dress, that might be a good enough last home for it.

I didn't mention your dress as I wasn't going to try to persuade you....a wedding dress is such a personal thing, but I'm glad you reached this decision.I'm donating mine too, in my case I'm happy that something 'nice' (you know what I mean) will come out of something wasted (in more ways than one ).
Anyway, big puff sleeves just isn't a good look these days.....:rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
No its a good cause and I really have no need for it, more happy memories of the dress...choicing and trying on etc. Its done in my head now, I know what I mean.
So have you continued with renewed enthusiasm?Panda xx
