Purplegirl, your post gave me shivers . So so lovely yet sad

Aliasojo - you have done so well. I am a hoarder by nature too, only about a year ago i organised some up into the loft. My house was a lot more chaotic up until then.

Now it is relatively tidy but still cluttered.

I struggle with sentimental things too, especially from my Mum and stuff. You're shaming me here, and I need to red out my cupboards. Wardrobe wise i have clothes from size 12 to 18 . A million handbags (just in case i decide to dress girly and co-ordinate my bags with clothes), coats I won't wear again, a bag of rags to make a rag rug (tried once and couldn't quite get it....), a bag of clothes to customise (a hobby ive not done in about a year ). I did bin a whole lot of shoes as i erally only wear the same 3 pairs.....

You are doing remarkably well, keep up the good work lady! (Ps , i also have empty boxes, although am trying to get rid of them... think i only have one which is from digital scales - i bought and they fell apart straight away, so i keep meaning to email Worral thompson , and quote the serial number on the box and tell him what a load of rubbish they were. I will do that soon:o)

Anyway, well done. It's nice to read someone else with the same "might come in handy one day" mentality :o
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Lunch time! Just thrown out LOADS of empty cardboard boxes.

I found a cardboard box full of small squishy pink pigs I got when Pigsback.com started up and gave them away as a promo thing. I thought I was getting one...but I got one box...they're very cute. Don't know what to do with them though.

I also have loads of ITVDigital 'Monkey' stuff, when they shut down, the employees ransacked the building and sold off all the Monkey memorabilia on eBay. I'll not tell you how much I paid for a signed picture of Chris Tarrant and Monkey. :o I have umbrellas/mugs/pictures/stuffed Monkey x 3 (the original with original T-shirt).

I have 3 x Sony freeview boxes, 2 are brand new, I have a brand new stereo (which daughter will get for Xmas so that's ok) and various portable tv's and video players.

I have an exercise machine and one of those sets that you stick to yourself with pads and it exercises your muscles whilst you sit on the couch eating chocolate biscuits. :D

See......I have lots of good things as well as junk.

Snap, I have more of a problem with some of the "good" things, like freeview boxes, video players etc. and the box of Disney videos that I thought would be worth money one day (they cost me enough)! Think I'll Freecycle next week or whatever its called and get rid of the past Christmas decorations while I can, tree full of gold and red theme and various other themes.

Last time I had someone pick some stuff from Freecycle they asked if I was moving in or out, neither actually just getting my bathroom done :o

Regarding the old home made deccies how about photographing them and then binning :D

Found another teaset. Thought I'd just check online and one cup and saucer is being asked £20 for on eBay.

There was 6 cups originally but I can only find 5 now....wonder if it's worth trying to sell them as spares. I have no idea about quality or grades though and I'd hate to end up with loads of hassle just because someone isn't happy with it.

I also have around a dozen 'dress up' dresses that were my daughter's. They were in the 'donate to school' box....then out...then in...then out again.

I keep thinking they would be good to keep for her children. (Along with the lego, train sets, duplo etc etc etc )

    I'm flagging now......

Have a look on pre-loved china websites like chinasearch. They buy as well as sell, and sell singles.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

you must have a bigger house than us...............if you can hear me above the drums being played in that cleared loft space!

Two bedroomed flat. Very - erm - cosy. But the neighbours work nights, so they're out when the noise gets made.

I try to be ruthless. I have a wardrobe and a chest of drawers in my (tiny) bedroom. If I can't fit it into those, it goes. Same with the girls, who share a triple wardrobe and have a large chest of drawers each. If it doesn't fit under their bed, it goes. Every cubbyhole has been converted into shelving, every cupboard has shelving added. If in doubt, find some way of fixing it

The only place it all goes wrong is in the living room, as that contains all my OU stuff, paperwork, bills, etc., which is a complete wotsit to maintain control over. It also serves as dining room, office, laundry, reception and occasionally - somewhere to relax.

It's not easy. I'm not perfect. But I don't have the luxury of hoarding as I simply do not have the space.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.
