I answered all the questions gave all the information passport number driving licence and for the first time ever failed, yet my other half passed the ID check. Now they want certificated copies of my docs.
I didn't give a passport number or a driving licence number and was not asked for any other proof of ID.

Ditto - and I appear to have set up 2 valid accounts for self & OH in about 5 minutes.

I've been a critic of MMBS in past (for poor saving rates) but this time they deserve praise (from me anyway) for being quick & efficient.
  • The OP was worrying over 0.05 loss of % ! Put more than 50 k in the Melton Mowbray and the Grey hairs will be back. They do make nice meat pies though.[/QUOTE]

No wonder they've been offering such poor rates for last few years - clearly their staff have had other things to deal with.

Will give this one a miss. Just don't feel comfortable when the deposit is being taken out via direct debit some time in the future and I am not allowed to send a cheque. Its just me and my wee idiosyncrasies

I think it's just you. With this direct debit you know what day the money is leaving your account and your savings account will be credited the same day. With a cheque often the Building Society or bank takes days or even weeks to present it and there is then a further delay before it is earning interest in your new account.

Only just spotted this last night and was going to fill in my application at lunch time......can`t believe they withdrew it so fast grrr. What now...

I was trying to sign up for it this morning, and meanwhile I emailed my husband to get his agreement first before doing the deposit amount, and when I did it it timed out and didn't work. I wonder if they were in the process of withdrawing it then?

Of course, if anyone has any other bright ideas please pass them on, looking to move some money. I'm also thinking I should move my ISA - although I've paid some money into it this year (Nationwide instant access cash ISA with miserable 035% interest these days). Anyone know if I can move mid-year, or should I top it up as much as I can for the year and do a move in April?

Yes you can transfer your ISA now. I believe Northern Rock @ 3.5 % fixed until 15/12/10 is currently one of the best rates

This thread is kept updated regularly for best current ISA rates Here
