The term is fixed, but I can't see anywhere that the rate is fixed. Have I missed it?0

I noticed that as well.
It doesn't specify if the rate is fixed or variable.
Im assuming it is fixed as stated in the emoneyfacts link above.
I did almost complete an aplication got through to the last page and abandoned it because the only option it gave for funding was DD from a linked account. I wanted to fund by BACS from an egg savings account.0 -
I've just checked and if you go on the melton home page and then the online savings page at the bottom it says the online Christmas Bond is fixed rate and fixed term.0

Coincidentally I did exactly the same, also wanting to fund by BACS from Egg. Having called them though (and how refreshing it is to get a real person answering straight away!) it appears the only alternatives are DD from the linked account, or (if you enter £0 for the initial deposit on the application form) a subsequent cheque which must also be from from the linked account.
I could see problems with the DD as my Nationwide Flex account allows a maximum of £10k by DD. Otherwise I would have transferred the funds from egg to the Nationwide first.
Ayway decided to leave it where it is for now.0 -
