Thank you all for your kind comments, it does make a difference.

Sistercass - no, no car but shed loads of "things" iykwim, luckily my stocked up supplies of toilet roll survived but the fabric conditioner didnt, and I was so pleased when I saw my special offer washing powder was ok :rotfl:the main casulties are OH's tools, bikes and our chest freezer. Over the next couple of days need to start sorting a list so that will keep us busy.

Mr Anniestar - thank you for your post, think you should continue even when Mrs A is back :D

    How is Grumpy doing Cranky?

He's a menace thanks. He infornms me he's ready for his present now (games console) as he's been practising on his friend's one. The answer of course was no. I also bought him a playmobil advent calendar. He's so pleased with it he asked to go to bed at 5:30pm so he could open number 2 that bit quicker. Given that he was awake at 5:10am this morning, I turned him down for an early bed time.

I have done no OS due to there being someone here painting the hall ceilings. I have been out and ordered carpet for 4 flights of stairs and 4 landings. A man is coming to measure up and scare me with the exact cost on Thursday. I have also been buying a lot of paint (for the walls next to the 4 flights of stairs) and making friends with Polyfilla.

Dinner has been out of the freezer. At a conservative estimate, I reckon theres enough food in there for about 2 months!

    Take care all of you!

Penny Pincher - thinking of you. Great big gentle hugs to you and your family. x

:bdaycake: to Mrs E and thriftlady

DH and I are due to complete on our first ever house on Friday. It's really scary and I'm pretty stressed out at the moment, what with my class getting ready for the Nativity, assessments to do AND having to think about moving. At least we can move over 2 weeks as we have a bit of an overlap on our rental property. MIL has offered to come over and help to clean the house with us top to bottom before we hand back the keys.

I'm feeling very virtuous as we're running down the stocks in the cupboards and freezer, so we'll have very little food to move. This is especially good as we're living with the in-laws for a couple of months whilst we get the central heating sorted and new carpets in the new place. The in-laws will be just round the corner from our new house. We didn't move there on purpose, it's just where the house we liked (and could afford) was!

I've had a clear out of clothes that I'll never wear again and are unable to go to a charity shop because they are beyond repair... I've managed to put them in a charity box which collects rags, which I'm delighted about as I'd hate to see them go to waste. Whilst I was there, other recycling bins seemed to be shouting out at me so a pair of shoes will be delivered tomorrow night, as well as the UK's plastic bag mountain which I have rescued from our garage. DH WILL be proud of me! :D

Anyway, I'm afraid that I'd better get on with my school work. I've put it off for too long.

Looking forward to going to bed tonight when we are putting on the extra thick duvet.

PenPin, I've got breast cancer in my family and also have cysty boobs. My consultant is very careful, a biopsy from him is like a scratch and then a finger being stuck into my boob. However, a mammogram may be quite painful for you, so they may offer you a scan instead or you may want to ask for it. :grouphug: love Floss xx
  • Evening all

Not had time to read thread tonight so hugs to all who need them.

I'm feeling pretty down today. A guy I've been casually dating for few months has left UK with the Army to spend 3months on training exercises, thankfully nowhere dangerous but I'll miss him . Also, my ex got married today, which I'm really not bothered about but why does it have to be same day my guy leaves?!. We were together for 5 years between 17 and 22, but I haven't spoken to him since we split over 5 years ago. I'm so glad I'm not with him now but it still feels a little weird IYKWIM.

Nothing OS today, total opposite, got takeaway and bottle of wine :rotfl:

    Hello all,

Another rainy, cold, windy day here

    Happy birthday Thriftlady and MrsE:bdaycake::bdaycake:

PenPin...so sorry to hear that you are having an unusually rotten time, hugs to you and OH.

Fish, beans and potatoes for dinner to-night, no pudding but could do with something sweet now...will try to be good but wouldn't advise anyone to take bets on it!

Still haven't sorted what to take with me to London on Thursday....DD3 has advised that my outfit for the wedding is ok, so that is one worry dealt with, need to get gifts for grand-daughters together, have bought for DD2 and partner on web, saves carrying more than necessary....am so mean with my 10kg which Ryanair allows as cabin baggage and refuse to take a bag that I would have to pay for.

Had my hair cut this afternoon, feels very much lighter so might step on scales tomorrow...should be at least a couple of lbs gone.

    Sleep well everybody

I'm doing my technician level of AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians). I've got a further 3 exams in June and a 4000 word project after this exam
I did my AAT many moons ago...I was 7 month pregnant with the twins when I sat my 2nd year exams and went back when they were 3 months old to start my final year sitting those exams when they were 11 months....I have no idea how I managed it - its all a bit of a blur now!

    Helllooooooo! :hello:

Been awol for a couple of days....that 'life' thing got in the way....i'll try not to let that happen too often:rolleyes: I've been lurking a bit on the other boards and picking up ideas here and there too.

Got a few MS jobs over the weekend and I;ve switched my day off next week to Monday so I've a long weekend off 'proper job' but I've got 14 MS jobs to do - mostly on Friday and Monday. I'm hoping to get as many jobs as possible in the first half of the month so I can take a total break at the end of the month - aiming to pay for the car tax with MS earnings!

Had a lovely bit of braised steak with onions and gravy that was done in the slow cooker for dinner - kids had jacket spuds with theres but Hubby and Twins had chips....it was the perfect gravy for chips!

Just been catching up with paperwork tonight and I think i'll hit the sack now as I had a bit of a late one last night.

Without bringing the mood down a friend of my sons tried (and thankfully failed) to commit suicide today. He's just 14 and is being argued over by his divorced parents and just felt that he had had enough. He rang DS2 earlier who was at college and DS2 said he sounded as though he wanted something but just said it didn't matter....on a very selfish level I'm also glad he's ok as that guilt for DS2 would have been enormous.

Anyway Night Night...I for one shall be grateful for small mercys this evening.
