I wrote a Tempur Deluxe pillow, Jamie at home book, Emma Bridgewater cup & saucer, Liz Earle skincare & Le Creuset oven gloves on my birthday & xmas list & I got all of them off DH this morning:D
Have to make a new xmas list.
Your shallow casserole sounds nice (lovely prezzie) great for risottos & Delias Basque chicken, any not really liquidy one-pot meals.
I want a LC wok, I'm off to Gunwharf Quays today

    , they have a Le Creuset there:D

Hmm food for thought. My birthday just before Christmas and it's one with a 'nought' so maybe I should post a large list!

Bitsy Beans, if you can't afford to go away, the trendy thing to do is the 'staycation'. Do you have friends going away on holiday that would like a house sitter?

Hmm, didn't really finish that post. Winter Brain! Here is the morning report from Ivy Mansions.

Frosty this morning. Still haven't tracked an overcoat down for DS, to wear over his suit for school. He's too big more or less for boys' stuff and Men's stuff swamps him. He's just over 5' tall, 34" chest. WOnder if Next have a boy's coat.

Don't think there will be much OS happening today, as I have a paying sewing job arriving. When I get going I shall do a bit more to covering the chairs, but a bit frustrated, as I couldn't get the bits to go together properly when I was at sewing club last night. Came home with three mags, would have seemed greedy to have more...We are very good at passing things on or sharing them there, very MSE! People bring fabric, patterns, mags, books etc that they no longer need. Sometimes we lend each other the current mags for a fortnight till the next meeting. A lovely group of people.

    BM is on.

    No more mice.

Food wise, I need to do a meal that calls for separate veg, as there are sprouts and broccoli fading away in the fridge. Fridge looks amazingly empty, which is of course a very good sign, as I'm on use up and getting stuff cleared out. Shame the freezer isn't quite the same. I didn't help the case by buying a goose yesterday, but you can't get them at Lidl/Aldi all the time. When I tidy up the freezer I'll let it go right to the bottom. Maybe fish pie for dinner, then a second dish for ds and I to have next week.

Lunch, there is some risotto for me to warm up, dh can have beans on toast, pate or eggs. He's not gone back to work today. In a way it's nice having him around, but things don't get done when I have folk at home in the day - know what I mean?

Hope you all have a good day.

It's ffffrezing here. :snow_grin had to deice the hen house and the fish pond this morning. :D

Don't worry Aussie, although I knew it was the first of the month I forgot to arrange the banking so have frantically been transferring funds this morning to cover payments. :o
I did remember to get the pixies to fill the advent calendar with goodies last night though. :D

OS wise, the house is swished, washing is one, lunches are made and I'm heading into the office until 3. At least the heating there is free. :T

Morning all, last night I was reading through some old threads and realised how much I have lost my old style way! So I'm now well and truly back on the bandwagon. I'm sick with the flu at the moment so I'm hoping to knit my son's little jumper (before summer hits!) in bed. I'm also going to a bit of money saving research, see how much I can shave off my outgoings in 2010.

Purpleivy sadly no friends going away that I know of. Other issue is DS - he's struggling with other people babysitting him - last time my parents did he got very upset with us going out and not being there to put him to bed. My mum's poorly with this cold aswell so if she's anything like me and the kids it's going to be nearly Xmas before she's well enough to even consider babysitting for us!

Perhaps I can organise something for the new year instead.....

Purpleivy - try topman. They average much smaller than usual men stuff. I have a skinny DS2 and the XS fits him well. They had a good range of smart trendy stuff and it wears well too.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Sorry to hear he is down Bitsy. Can you try spoiling him at home? ;) Just letting him know you recognise what he's going through and telling him you appreciate him could help (though you probably do that anyway) ;)xxx

Bitsy why don't you just plan some nice evenings in with OH once DS is in bed? I'm really old fashioned with my toddler he's in bed for 6.30!! Then OH and I can sit and eat, chat, rant about our days, watch a film and relax. It's bliss and makes up for not being able to go out.

thanks for the suggestions ladies. It's not SAD it's definately work and feeling run down. He's not been sleeping great (probably due to work) and therefore not feeling up to doing his usual running etc which then helps him sleep better. He's even on about getting a 50cc scooter as he hasn't got the energy for riding his bicycle (and this is a man that LOVES cycling!).
Problem with quiet nights at home is DS doesn't go to bed until 7.30 and due to him getting stressed we have to sit with him til he goes to sleep which at times can be getting on for nearly 8.30. I've tried leaving him but he ends up hysterical and then wakes DD - with him stuggling a bit with nursery etc I am loathe to add to the problem by making him more stressed about bedtime.

Gosh that all sounds like such a lame excuse LOL!

We'll muddle along somehow and thankfully he's got a couple of days off in December and although we can't do much as a family (as DS still has nursery) hopefully he can just chill a bit.
