Happy Birthday Thriftlady :bdaycake:Have a great day, what time shall we come for cake ?
Blooming freezing here, its gone from quite mild last week to thick frost today, car is covered in it, I dont mind much as it should be cold at this time of year, and it makes me feel more christmasy :T
I got the rest of my presents wrapped yesterday, I hate that job, the first one looks quite nice, but all the rest are terrible, still never mind done now. Just need to finish my cards off today, and get them posted, I know its early but I want to get it all done in case we have to move.
I need to go and get more Birthday cards today, three more to get before Xmas, and two small presents. (one is a bottle of scotch)
DD is off to the dentist later, so needs to leave school at lunchtime. We will then nip into Mr t to get the cards etc.
Think I might do a cottage pie for tea, nice and warming, OH is working outside on a harbour again is is coming home freezing.
Need to hoover through this morning, make cottage pie and finish of cards, and do a wash, which should take me up to lunchtime when I collect dd.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone
A very Happy Birthday to thriftlady :bdaycake:
I'm off for my work's Christmas lunch (seems very early to me, but he-ho  ). I'm then doing the late shift in the office, so I'm leaving spaghetti bolognaise for DS to prepare for DH and DD coming home
Have a lovley Old Style day everyone

Morning All
:j:beer:Happy Birthday Thriftlady:beer::jhave a fantastic day - did you get any new cookbooks?:D
Missing in action yesterday as had major trauma here sunday evening - a car drove into our garage and next door neighbours fence, we live on a 30mile an hour road on a junction and the police reckon he must have hit our garage at over 60 miles an hour. He did a runner but the police had someone in custody yesterday. The car had to be left there as it would have meant our garage would collapse when they pulled it out. A company now come out - shored it up and made it safer but they are coming back this morning as still not happy with the roof. Insurance assesor coming later then we can start the huge slog of sorting out what is damaged etc. We couldnt tell yesterday as it was too dangerous to enter.
Anyway not something I needed on top of Xmas but at least no-one was hurt.
Couldnt focus on anything yesterday so today must catch up with paperwork, washing up (still waiting to hear when our dishwasher will be fixed!) and washing.
Work is a nightmare because of the Blackwall Tunnel closure so all in all definately not a good start to the week.
Anyway OS today will be using leftover pork for dinner, reheated in gravy with mashed potato.
Have a good day.x0 -
This is where I should have posted it.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady:bdaycake:I've also just been given a Le Creuset shallow casserole in blue- What shall I cook in it?
Breakfast is toast as I'm not making it today and lunch for me and OH will be at a restaurant. I'm cooking steaks for tea with either baked spuds or gratin dauphinoise and salad.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes:T0 -
Happy Birthday Thrifty. I should have checked birthdays but going by my day I would have thought it was yesterday.

Morning all
Frosty start to the day, but as it's now December that's how it should be! Had lovely dinner last night. OH, DS1 and DS2 had sausages, mash, veg and gravy and I had leftover meat from roast, mash, veg and gravy. Makes me feel so good when food is not being thrown away, tonight's dinner is pork chops with potatoes, veg and gravy - similiar sort of meal to last night's but I tend to cook something easy as I work a long day on a Monday and Tuesday and we eat too late if I make something complicated! OH gone to work early again this morning - don't envy him getting out of bed at that time - it's too cold for me! I get to stay snuggled up for another couple of hours!
Work was reasonably busy yesterday but will ease off as we get to Xmas - but then get horrendous in March ready for the start of the new financial year in April. Spoke to our friends last night and are going to their house on Friday night to stay, shopping Saturday for us girlies, whilst men/boys do boys toys and then possibly bowling Sat afternoon/evening and staying at theirs on Sat night for us to come home at our leisure on Sunday - sounds good to me!
Have to go now, keep safe and well, hugs to those that need them.

Gosh everybody is up bright and early today!:bdaycake::bdaycake:
Alarm went at 6.30 and I thought that was early:eek:
Happy Birthday to thriftlady and belated wishes to MrsE (cakes appeared above for some reason rather than here!)
DD is dashing around getting ready for school and DH has made me a cup of tea and clucking round like a mother hen.
I mentioned I might be greatly daring, wrap up warm and go to the library this afternoon and by the look on his face you would think I had planned on mountain climbing! It is only across the road and I have been out of hospital for over three weeks now. He has got the idea that while I am right next to him or tucked up in bed or gently pottering in the kitchen I can't come to any harm! He is being really sweet.
Might do sausage and mash for tea or else a chicken curry as DH has defrosted some chicken breasts.
If I can talk DH into getting the hessian advent calender from where he has hidden it (and forgotten about it )from under the stairs then I can fill it and hang it up.
Most presents are wrapped up but I am still waiting (after ordering over a week ago ) for nail varnish and cosmetics from two different companies. Wish i had just ordered everything from half price perfumes instead as they send stuff to arrive within 48 hours.
DD(24) has just offered me another pot of tea and brought me a hot water bottle- bliss!
Thriftlady
The cake and the casserole dish both sound lovely. I treated myself to one in blue for my birthday but it is the round one not the posh one.
Hugs to everybody and see you later"This site is addictive!"

Good Frosty Morning all
Ive had to take a lieu day today as ive been battling the dreaded cystitis for a week now with home remedies to no avail, finally gave in and have booked a GP appt for this morning.
Im going to use the rest of the day to have a good sort out of the freezer, write some christmas cards and get my little xmas parcel made up for my auntie who lives in ethiopia and looks after some orphaned children in the middle of nowhere! I have some little packs of marmite i snaffled from a hotel earlier in the year, some flavoured teas, stock cubes etc to send to her as these little luxuries make her life a little more homely
We are going to get the tree up today and wrap some gifts.

I wrote a Tempur Deluxe pillow, Jamie at home book, Emma Bridgewater cup & saucer, Liz Earle skincare & Le Creuset oven gloves on my birthday & xmas list & I got all of them off DH this morning:D
Have to make a new xmas list.
Your shallow casserole sounds nice (lovely prezzie) great for risottos & Delias Basque chicken, any not really liquidy one-pot meals.
I want a LC wok, I'm off to Gunwharf Quays today

, they have a Le Creuset there:D0
