Daily Thread - 1st December

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning everyone,
Pinch & punch it's the first day of the month.
Well I thought it was tomorrow today.
Our solar panel is being installed on the 2nd and for some reason I thought it was the 1st yesterday. So around 10am I thought it odd that they hadn't turned up, climbing on the roof in the middle of the day and all that. The radio was going and luckily I heard them chatting about being the first day of summer before I rang and embarrassed myself.
Shame I didn't twig on earlier as I would have gone shopping which I was going to do tomorrow.
Too hot now. Ran out of time yesterday with DS2. He bought himself a lounge after numerous visits to different shops & locations..
So today I've been doing some household chores & off to make some granola while the kitchen is hot & not stinking hot.
Squiddly Happy belated birthday.
TiredMum Sorry to hear about your dog. It's really awful when that happens. Little dog will adjust soon.
Hope you all have a happy day & for those celebrating St Andrew's Day. <hugs> to those poorly. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I'm off to work soon, we have no heating thereat the moment, so I shall go in well wrapped up. Hubby's off to do the rounds of the job agencys & the job centre today, lets hope they aren't as rude to him as they were last time.
WM & DW on, liver defrosting for tea, first one home will cook it.
Hugs to Tiredmum, you did the kindest thing.
Save-a-holic, jump right in, there's loads of support here.
Morwenna you may not remember Dixon of Dock Green, but we have a child at school called Sue-Ellen Ewing, the name always reduces us older staff to a fit of the giggles & the younger ones look as us like we're daft.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning peeps
really cold and icy here this morning, we didn`t have the previously promised snow though, i checked the weather again before i headed off to bed last night and the forecast had changed.
I popped out for some de-icer and i`m glad that i did as the car was like a little ice cube earlier. When i first looked out i thought that it actually had snowed as everything was covered in a really thick frost.
Nothing else much to report other than my colleague has just called me to let me know that breakfast is readyi shall pop off and catch up later.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady :bdaycake:enjoy your day.
Have a good one folks - keep warm

Wow, almost -1c outside right now!
Got my christmas tree up last night, strung the lights around it with some nice balls. Just needs finishing off now.
Wouldn't have thought the heating on was on until 10pm last night, it feels cool in the house.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
Morning everyone.
It's freezing here & I put my dressing gown in the washing machine last night so am currently looking very fetching with a cardigan over my nightie :D
Thriftlady Happy Birthday :bdaycake: Hope you have a good one.
I cooked leek & potato soup overnight in the slow cooker so the kitchen smells lovely now. I'll let it cool then blend ready for lunch for the next few days. The main task for today is ironing which, despite my best intentions, hasn't been done for a week so theres lots of it.
Hugs where needed today & have a good one.0 -
Hi Guys,
Happy Birthday Thriftlady
Well DD just grumped out of the house to catch the bus. Its dark and cold and I do feel for her but she needs to go to college and I cant drive her so the bus it is!!!
Its freezing here today - I had my heated blanket on all night cooking away nicely on 2. Doggies very unwilling to go out this morning cos of the cold but then pranced around the garden wiping their face in the frost. It must feel invigorating to them!!!
OS - Really enjoyed tea last night. Had the energy to make a pie and a banana loaf both made with leftovers and manky stuff and both were yum. Im not sure what we will have tonight and will go have a rummage in the freezer. Im going to carry on with christmas tree and there is washing which needs doing. My cleaner came yesterday so the house is fairly clean and tidy. Kids need to dust their bedrooms:eek:
Good luck with Job interview.
I hope you all have a good day,
love MollyxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
