I my humble opinion this board is in very desparate need of a lot more decent counter-arguments to Hamish posts and a serious decrease in people just throwing insults at him.
I accept your opinion Cleaver. However, in my opinion Hamish insulted me, made assumptions about me and made an aggressive & incoreect post about me.
I have put forward 2 fairly detailed rebuttals to the issue he raised, plus further objection to the secondary points he has raised. Hamish has chosen to ignore my response, & also (it appears) has declined to consider acknowledging that at the very least what he stated about me was incorrect.
I am here to debate & learn. However it appears that there is selectivity in Hamish in respect of what answers are forthcoming.
Look at the link I posted - a clear rebuttal to Hamish's perspective.
I continue to await any response to the debate. I have no other agenda. I will say I have only just this minute logged on, so a response may be in an alternative thread. If so, I'll happily continue the debate & hold my hands up.
Hamish is more than welcome to his opinion, & I enjoy debating with everyone on the board. You only are able to learn when your own assumptions are challenged or come under scrutiny.
I'm not trolling, just trying to debate.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »If they had a decent counter-argument, they wouldn't need to resort to throwing insults.
It's a sign of desperation.
And the more they do it, the more obvious it becomes to everyone.
Hmmm. Read the above. You've been selective in who you reply to. Is it because you struggle to answer what I posted?
This was the first instance of any debate between the 2 of us. What I am most unhappy about is your textual assault on me earlier in the thread which you made.100% agree, Instead off looking at what he posted, a thread about someone rubbing their hands at job losses and debating about that.
They start making fun and having a go at him. It makes them look like they agree with the post he took offence at.
I think some ought to look at their own actions before moaning about Hamish's posts.
If your post was aimed at myself (not alleging it was, but in case) I'd refer you to the reasons I've listed below Cleavers quote. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

No, it was to the ones saying Mctitish etc. and not commenting on the thread.0 -

And they wonder why we detest them so much.
Hoping for more job losses, just to get a house on the cheap.
Sick individuals.....
Speak for yourself McTwattish. There are some fruitcakes over there but that is the same with any forum. You are just as bad as their worst examples. You are a mirror image of them.
Now run along and start a few more meaningless threads about how house prices are going to start going up again."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "0 -

It's OK, now stop being a nincompoop. (sorry could not resit the opportunity a joke;):D)0 -

I do wonder if Hamish keeps posting the same old stuff is that he is desperate that his house won`t fall into negative equity.0

Good god is this still going on? I doubt Hamish is even aware of this as he never reads anything past page one anyway. He goes straight off to research his next bit of goodwill.
Just call him a nob, it'll make you feel better.0 -

If you wish for a house price crash, then you are also wishing for the recession, unemployment, reposession and misery that comes with it.
...
Thats because you're trying to skip the first rungs on the ladder.
Buy a flat. Build equity. Meet a nice girl that also bought a flat. Sell your flats for a nice big deposit. Buy a house.
Thats the way it works.
I also don't want recession unemployment, misery, recession, illness, death, plague, murders or whatever other nonsense you think bears want just because they want a roof over their head.
I too have been priced out for so long I need a house not at the bottom of the ladder, but that makes me a bad person does it? No. It makes me normal. Does it make me greedy? Only if it's classed as greedy to want a roof over your head and a place to happily raise a family.
Your suggestion of buying a flat and meeting someone else with a flat is nice in a lovely little world where everyone can afford a house and prices are static. If a flat was always £75k and you met someone else with one you could easily afford to combine the 2 and buy a family home.
What has gone wrong is that BTL landlords and buyers have expected prices to carry onr rising. They have bought flats, sold at profit pushing up house prices for first time buyers, thus pricing out the generation following them.
I hate it when HPI/HPC discussions turn into bulls vs bears slanging matches. Everyone is so busy hurling abuse at each other they forget the main issue. People can't afford houses: is this right?0 -
except rising owner occupancy figures show that with each passing decade more of the population owns?Prefer girls to money0
