I just knew I was coping too well. I feel today like it has only just hit me......I have cancer!!! OMG, I actually have cancer!!

I've been really down today, even though I have had general anaesthetic (sp?) before, all I keep thinking is.....what if I don't wake up this time? Its going to be the longest time Iv'e been under. I know I won't know about it if I just don't wake up, but I can't bear the thought of never seeing my hubby again. Also I can't bear the thought of hubby's face if they have tell him I didn't make it.

I know these thoughts are perfectly normal.....aren't they?

I'll most likely be in a more up-beat mood tomorrow but today has just been really long. I suppose the pile of ironing I had to do this morning didn't help either.
See.....still got my sense of humour, things can't be that bad.

Iv'e told all this to hubby when he got home from work and he's been brilliant. He's my rock, I love him to bits.

Sorry to go on but I feel better for typing it.

    Hi Shelly

Just found this thread and would like to add my support. It's early days, and you have been through a turmoil of emotions in the last few weeks, it's bound to hit you like it did today.

On the positive side, they seem to have 'caught' it early as it has not spread, your medical team sounds like they are spot on with diagnosis and treatment. You have had a general anaesthetic before so you know what to expect and it's not your first time so it's effect on you in not unknown. Your husband is your rock, as you say, and we are all on your side.

Best wishes, we're all thinking about you.

    Hi Shelly

Its perfectly normal to have crap days we all have them anyway! Don't try to be strong all the time as you will wear yourself out.... take some time out for yourself and hubby.....

A good cry never did anyone any harm....

Keep us all updated and remember there is always someone to talk to on here.....

Good luck Shelly, I know you will be fine. I can sympathise to an extent but mine was caught at CIN3 not the full blown cancer.
I found Addenbrookes to be really good compared with other hospitals I had tests and treatment at.

    Hi Shelley,

Sorry to hear your news, it must be the hardest thing to go through. I found a huge lump in my breast a while ago and it was nerve wrecking waiting for weeks for the tests and results. I was more worried for my husband as well, the thought of him coping alone was very very hard. I was lucky but everything you're saying is how I remember it at the time and I didn't even have to finally get that bad news. Just the thought of it was enough to scare the hell out of me and I'm normally quite a strong person. I'm sure you'll get through the general anaethetic fine and hopefully when you come around they'll have some good news for you. Nothing is inevitable yet, just remember that. Let us know how it goes, we'll keep our fingers and toes crossed for you!

Also if you fancy having a good cry but away from where people can see you then cry in the shower - I have done this and when your finished in the shower you are refreshed and washed your tears away.
