Yellowduck, All well at the moment, well in my head that is. I have not been out shopping but thats been easy as I have no money. I can put anything into practice until, 11th od december when i get apid and DH gets paid on the 15th. I am doing well on the not spending the tiny bit of cash that i do have. I am looking in the cupboards and only buying what i realy need. Had no latte's this week at all. Although this month will be hard as I have to play catch up and get in rest of christmas presents and christmas food. I will be happy if i can get through without wasting any money. Even if I run short of cash before january payday, if I know i have not wasted any I am sure I will feel better about it. I always go to mams for christmas dinner so i dont need to worry about that, but newyear dinner is at mine. i do not have children at home, so thats a big help too. When i think of the £1,000s of £s i have wasted I could kick myself. I just hope I am this determined come next friday

1st thing to be thankful for today, is that i love my work and its very easy. I work a twelve hour night shift and only actualy "work" about 5 of them. The rest of the times is spent, watching tv, reading, drinking coffee and being bored. Lots of people would luv to do that at work ?

    thankyou for popping in
Thankyou to all who have the good heart to help me.

Foxgloves, i am looking forward to payday as well being solvent again, i want to put into practice what is in my head. i have opened 3 other acconts all connected to my online banking so that i can put moeny in each one for diferent things. One is labelled Emergency Fund. I am also on my next visit into town, going to open an account at my local credit union bank. I plan to save for next christmas in it. I also have an unused Halifax account which i am going to put my grocerie money and my spend money in. That way I do not need to keep going it to my current accont. Well i am so full of idea's thanks to everyone who has helped me. NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS PUT IT INTO PRACTICE !!!

    Thankyou x

  • It's great to hear you so excited about budgetting Bloojeans, makes the rest of us seem a little less sad :rotfl:

I just wanted to offer some advice because I know that it's one of my biggest downfalls with anything I do. You WILL fall down at some point, there will be unnecessary spends sometimes and some months you may run short before payday. But when this happens, pick yourself up and get right back on it. The only way you will fail is if you cease to try (lord I sound like Yoda)!!!

I hope you'll keep this in mind if and when you !!!! up, as I have done on so many occasions. Keep up the good work! HUUUUUGS!

Hiya Kate, Oh i have no t doubt i will fall off the wagon. I am a life time money waster, and there will be 100 things I have not thought of. I have not budgeted for anything other than my priority bills at the moment. And I have no doubt I will run out of funds before a few pay days. But as long as I am not wasting it and can realy justify my spends, then it will be big progress for me. i am hoping that the gap betwenn no cash and pay day will get smaller and smaller. I have no savings or anything not a penny to show for nearly 40yrs of working.

2nd thing to be thankful for today I have never ever been out of work in my life.

but i have nothing to show for it. The more I talk about it all, the more disgusted and disgraced I am with myself.

    Thankyou x

Less of that! More of how proud you are that you're finally ready to turn things round :T

Well i've managed the link but lost the post that I meant to go with it. Not sure if that's progress.

Good on you getting going on this. The link to Inter galactic Floozie's thread might interest you as she counts down the days to payday with how much she has left in each budget and her purse and checks with her bank account to see if it balances. huge turn around for her in recent months. Inspiring.

    good luck BJ

You say you've got nothing to show for it all, but you have - life experience and a stronger character for having the guts to deal with your problems. And after a few months on this site you'll have knowledge to put a financial advisor to shame!

If only 21 year olds could buy that!

Hi Bloojeans, Look, it doesn't matter what time in your life you put this problem right, as long as you do it! I also look back at & try to quantify the amount of money I've wasted over my working life time and it does get you down. I'd really like both a new kitchen & a campervan & I know I could have been cooking in the first & seeing the other parked in the drive by now, had I discovered budgetting in my 20s, but I didn't, & you sound like you've been the same. Try not to think about it. Just say, this has to change and every day make sure you do something to support that change. Sometimes these things can be tiny, but they all add up. For instance, one of my daily 'things' recently was buying a pack of 3 bars of perfectly good soap for the bathroom basin for 29p & being happy with that decision, when in the past, I'd have sometimes paid £5 for a single posh bar or bought things like gorgeous but massively expensive Occitaine liquid soap. Yes, I still like the luxury stuff, but now when I get this sort of thing for Christmas or birthday presents, it really seems like a treat & I appreciate it much more. REALLY impressed with all your extra bank accounts for managing your money. You really are taking all the steps you need to, for getting in control. Go for it!

Just in off night shift. Ames after a months on this site. Thats the plan i am just hoping its not always going to be a fight. Naturaly being money savvy will be the best present i can ever give myself

Foxglove, i have lots of ideas and feel strong to put them in place, time will tell, easy to say when you have no money. Doing it with 2 pay cheques in the bank is another ! Logging into here every day, most times 3 and 4 times and day, is a fabulous help to me. Its like having lots of personal trainers, spuring me on. :A all of you's.

Your comment about buying cheaper and exspensive a treat, so true. It made me thik of a post i read on another board. A lady empties her cheapy brands in to branded bag before her husband see and he never knows the difference :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I thought that was sooo funny. Im going to do that, as DH can be a bit picky some times. I'll keep you all updated on what i get away with :rotfl:

    Thankyou
