    Morning all!

Breakfast has been eaten and the DW is on. Windows are open to let in some air.

I'd better get dressed and head of to the post office to collect the parcel that came yesterday. Then plan the rest of the day. Hair appointment in winchester at 3.15, but of course parking is going to be hellish... I'll have to be nice to my brother and see whether a. they're out and I can use their parking space or b. they're in and I can borrow a visitor permit!

Flying plans will be done later...

    Morning all,

Well after a long week at work I'm now surveying the wreck that is my home:eek:

OH has gone to have his car looked at (brakes) so that will no doubt be a substantial cost by the time he gets home... ETA - he's just rung to say nothing wrong with the car, so thats something.

Today is a general blitz round everywhere - I also have loads of shredding to do and recycling to sort, so I had better get started. I should also think about meals for the w/e.

Soappie - DD will be fine, she has you to support her and help her talk it through.

I have done the cards and will get them posted over the weekend.

I'm not really up with the thread so hugs to all who need them.

Hubby away to some bb gun thing so i'll have a bit of peace for a while yet. Plus he should be in good form when he gets back.:D

Thanks for the ebay tip off!
(details deleted as I realise it might be against forum rules!)
Could have listed the other week - it wasn't the batteries it was the software...changed tack and found a gazillion pics, many I THOUGHT I had deleted, on my camera...ho hum.

Cards packed for Lady Liberty and (ssh) cash in taped down;)) off to PO shortly.

 just realised that's older than (quite a lot of) Flyladies....

    Todays list is

    pick parcel up from depo

    ebay like a madwoman

    sort christmas pressies

    start wrapping and labelling

tree, decs and stuff from loft

    Dilemma alert

Ok so I need a car for work, a reliable, cost effective one as I do a lot of mileage.

    I also have debt.

I have a sum of money being transferred to my bank from my credit card, 0% for 14 months.

    Soooooo do I

    a) spent the lot of a car from a dealership, it'll be second hand but I'll get a warranty and I'm hoping piece of mind that its a decent car with lowish mileage.

    b) Put the lot down as a huge deposit and get finance for a new car, then I can use my old car as scrappage, then I'll have the debt and the finance.

    c) Lower my sights significantly and spend say half the amount of a car, maybe buy privately through autotrader or local paper. Won't get warranty. Will have significant amount of money to clear most debts and get myself back on track.

    d) Get a lease car from work, advantages, I can get a new car, disadvantages, I lose my allowance as a essential car user, my mileage rate drops very significantly and an amount of tax will be deducted from my wages. However everything is taken care of from tax to insurance and piece of mind that if anything goes wrong with the car the garage deals with it and I don't have to pay. All servicing is included too.

Any ideas guys, I would really like the piece of mind of a good reliable car but am extremely worried re the debt issue.:o:o

Triker - the only way to work it out is to do the maths :( in detail... but as you like numbers it shouldn't be too hard! There is a break point in terms of mileage at which the company car becomes the cheaper option. However, I know I'd find that difficult, because I get a car allowance and definitely don't spend it on the car :o I know I should put it into a savings account for a replacement, but I just see it as part of my salary... However, because you're saving interest on the debt, you may well find that overall you're better off. Sorry... brain work ahead for you today ;)

My day is sorted - off to the post office, then into Newbury to do some shopping, then over to Winchester for lunch with my brother, park at his house then shop/hair cut in Winchester. So flying will be tomorrow...

bearing in mind depreciation and all, and considering that the lease car deal includes tax, insurance and servicing that would seem the way to go. You don't need to OWN a car but you need to be able to use one...and it won't ADD to your debt...
but as Greenbee says we really need figures BUT those figures would have to include servicing the debt...

(BTW exOH already knows;) I am a mad crazy woman! - just don't want to convince him! - and DS's washing is on his bedroom floor so no change there...WHY DO I BOTHER:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:)
