WOOHOO IT IS :xmastree:.....DECEMBER..... :xmastree:

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Binbag dance - Grab a binbag and run around the house filling it up with rubbish.. I like to do this the day the bins are due to be emptied.. it fills the bin and decutters!

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your family and enjoy it!

Ok here goes this week!

    1. You don't have to complete the daily list on the same day to get your star but try and do some in the week to give yourselves more free time at the weekend
    2. You must do levels 1,2 and 3 to get a star but remember the 'extras' are extras and don't count towards the stars!
    3. Please make it obvious when you have finished a list so that I know you need a star - for example Monday Done! make sure I can see it!!!!!!
    4. If you dont have something on the list then it gets deleted - e.g. clean out pets - if no pets no cleaning out done - delete!
    5. Similarly when it says childrens rooms then you should substitute spare room/utility room/conservatory...etc if you have no childrens rooms.
    6. If you have no spare room or any other room not on the weekly list then make sure you do any thing thats on that list that you haven't already done earlier in the week and try to substiture similar type jobs - make an effort please!!
    7. You should not be deleting stuff just because you CBA!!
    8. You may delete stuff if you are not physically fit to do something!
    9. And for goodness sake remember that the stars are for FUN - there will be no discrimination - no sulking - no striking - no bribing- no cheating - or there will be no stars!!! so there!!

Last week there were a 139 stars awarded with 11 flyers doing all five days lists. Well done everyone! That means 139 rooms were cleaned and sparkling this week.

OK that was a poor week - lots of things going on so not a huge amount of cleaning done - as pigpen so rightly says only 26 sleeps to the big day so we want our houses to be all sparkly, clean and tidy so that we can enjoy the festivities - now dont we?????? (the answer is 'yes' BTW)

    w/c 23/11 - 139 (11)
    w/c 16/11 - 171 (16)
    w/c 09/11 - 182 (13)
    w/c 02/11 - 164 (16)
    w/c 27/7 - 120 (5)
    w/c 06/4 - 202 (21) (new total to beat)

have a set day for doing washing, ironing etc?

I have Multiple Sclerosis & really struggle to get all my jobs done

I wondered if it may be better if I was to do set jobs on set days?

I get really down if I don't feel well & there is so much to do.

Any ideas? What does everyone else do?

Thank you Pigpen, Toottifrooti and soappie for everything you do.

Ok I am going to forget the Grrs from the last thread starting afresh and new :D

    Welcome to the thread signsofrecovery

Mudbath fabuous elf idea but I think mine are a tad too old now

Quillion - I would be inclined to ask mother and motherinlaw then as least you have offered and if they choose to turn it down because they have to do something else then at least you can enjoy your day as a family with no guilt, and why not set a place at the table for missing loved ones and talk about the things you remember about them when at the table.

Toots - yes it was that bad again and every time I turned my back she was in front of the TV again so I gave up and went to sleep instead for the afternoon. That and every time I asked her to do something it took an hour and about 3 reminders and that was just to get dressed and bring her washing down. Anyway I have moved on ......

    This weeks list

Monday- Living room, hall and stairs
    Level one
Clear floors of clutter and vacuum them - they are at least still clutter free unless DD trashes room tonight so will just need the vacuum
Make time for yourself!! Half an hour of peace! - my friend is taking me xmas shopping tomorrrow and as she's a paramedic I have someone to look after me if it gets too much :D
    Level Two
    Wipe sofas
Vacuum under furniture you can safely move.. I don't want any hurt backs!
[STRIKE]Sort coats and shoes and bags[/STRIKE] These are superduper tidy as I cleared all the clutter last week
    Level Three
Dust and deweb all those corners and electrical appliances and shelves.. etc
Clear mantel and put back only what should be up there!
    Wipe and water plants

    Extras
    1. Vacuum under furniture you can safely move
    2. Wash any soft furnishing that need it
    3. Start wrapping presents!!!! If you haven't already!
    4. Binbag dance..

Hello Annie, Sorry to hear your struggling at times. I struggle to get everything done due to working full time, helping run my husbands business and I also help my daughter out by looking after my grandson three times a week, but necessity means that this has to be the case. I find that I make lists galore for things that need to be done for the week and put a time it will take to do it beside it - dusting sitting room and hall - 10 mins for example. If I have 10 mins I do it and score it off, if I have more time I work out what I can do, maybe you can try this and on a good day try and get through more and on a bad day do one or two of the quick jobs so at least you can see you are doing something.
Even on a bad day some planning perhaps or even a shopping list might help?
    Good luck
    Every days a School day!
