did you take it back & show them?
did you give them the opportunity to do something about it?

if you didnt, how can you now 'prove' to EH that it was in fact in that McDonalds, & they had served it to you?

By the deterioration on that bun there was ample opportunity to "do something about it" prior to serving it up, what if the burger had been handed to a child in pushchair or something and had been devoured, I realise it is only mould and would cause little if no harm, but, ask yourself if their fresh produce is in this state what does that tell you about the hygiene conditions and preparations in this outlet?

That the manager isn't checking? That the date stamps aren't being kept to, an that if they are, the produce isn't being FIFO'd?

Was there any hairs or the burger undercooked? Were there any other signs of poor hygiene? If not, I'd say you were extremely unlucky. All you can do is contact MaccyD's head office and let them know (send them the pic too, by post) and see what they say. All you'll get a is letter saying sorry and vouchers, no compo, nothing. Cos they don't work like that

That is absolutely sickening. What a disgrace. I wouldn't have settled for a mumbled apology, that's for sure!
  • At least it shows the food actually is 'food' to some extent. I remember seeing something on youtube about a woman who had kept a 6 year old burger and 4 year old fries from mcdonalds and they more or less looked the same as when they were made!

Being on the bottom half of the bun, I'd have probably eaten that without even noticing. :o

I'll be checking their buns next time I visit. ahem.

In That morgan spurlock movie about Mcdonalds he placed a cheese burger under glass for I believe, 6 months and it still looked fresh when it came out. I am amazed this bun could grow mould. I thought they put full on preservatives in averything.
I haven't eaten Mcdonalds for 10 years - try something else next time...
  • time for my tuppence worth :)

i used to work for mcds and from the way the burgers are 'assembled' you would see that amount of mould...or amny mould for that matter....so i find it very hard to believe this is a real thread...if it is i apologise but from experience of making these burgers i find it very unbelievable :)

I too find it unbelievable that any mcds worker wouldnt notice that amount of mould! and to be honest - hate macdonalds and avoid it like the plague! if its on the bread bun as it seems to be - how long has the bun been kept? by mcds or customer - as anyone can keep bread then photograph it. not mcds greatest fan - but i smell a scam here!
  • I'm loving it :D
the other issue which I think trading standards should look at is the branding and naming of the flagship burger - The Big Mac - If you've had one you will know that it clearly isn't!
    Do I win £10?:D
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D
