After a reccy on foot to see if the main roads were clear, I managed to free roll down my road and got to Tesco. ::): Quiet in Tesco apart from one rather drunk lady swearing loudly that her taxi hadn't appeared and she was outside waiting without a coat (as if that was the taxi's fault:rolleyes:).

    So...SNOW!!!

Ayone else enjoying yet another day off school/work, due to heavy snow, with no apparent signs of stopping?

Even DH has admitted defeat and decided to work at home as the road is so bad - and usually he'll try to get in even if takes hours as he's pretty essential.

Kids thrilled to be off again. :)

I'm a bit peeved as today was the day I'd re-ordered the Tesco shop after last week's cancelled 1 - we've been struggling through, but supplies are actually running quite low now. No milk, v liitle in the way of fresh fruit and veg. :(

    Not a cat-in-hell's chance they'll deliver in this. :(

    How's everyone else doing?

Did your heating get sorted, Sue?

No proper snow here, just the sleety silly kind, so all kids at school today (they went back Monday, which was great fun as the roads around the school and the car parks were a nightmare!).

No, heating not sorted as yet, the engineer came out yesterday afternoon (I was most impressed with how quick) but the boiler needs a part which has been ordered. This could take a few days to arrive but he was hopeful it would be quicker than parts for other boiler systems as the boiler I have is a well known and well sold one so parts are easily available.

In the meantime, I have borrowed an oil filled electric radiator from my parents plus I already had their halogen heater which I borrowed last year and we are just about managing, bit cold at times but nothing like when I was a child! One thing I have noticed, it's a lot easier to get into the loo as the kids are not hanging around in there for too long :rotfl:

I have taken to wearing a jumper on top of my night shirt to bed and all of us have got hot water bottles/wheat bags to warm the beds before we get in.

We do have hot water however, the engineer discovered that we also have an immersion heater (which was news to me, only lived here nearly 12 years), so at the flick of a switch....hot water!

To keep warm yesterday, I did a winter clean of my kitchen...great for warming up, carp for my arthritis...rest of yesterday and all of today I have been shuffling around like an old woman.

Oh well, up to a lovely warm hospital in the morning with eldest son..after having to get up early in the morning so he can get to school for an exam at 8am! They have arranged a special sitting for him as he was due to start the exam at 8.45 but his hospital appointment is 9.50.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

10 degrees here today, cloudless blue skies and warm sun... all day. Went for a walk in a summer top and open, light jacket. Not a hint of it being cold, it was lovely out.

Bliss...the snow is really getting me down. Fabrics delayed, deliveries delayed, DD sat a mock GCSE in her bedroom today via the schools extranet.

House is bluddy freezing all the time and there is no coal anywhere.

I had to buy these fake log things (compressed dust soaked in petrol or similar) as I was desperate for a fire this evening.

I don't look out the window and think 'It's so pretty' anymore (see new avatar of sea, sun and snow) but, what a pain.
I have to get a train on Friday..I can't put it off any longer and am praying for a thaw.
How's the parents? I bet they are pleased you are around for a while too.

It sounds like something I could do with on a regular basis.

I have arthritis in my lower spine and it is only now I am admitting to myself that it's not something that is going to go away if I tell myself I am well, unfortunately, I still overdo it (like my springWinter clean of my kitchen today) and then end up barely able to move!

I really really don't like this growing older lark!
That's not growing older, that's falling apart!

    Where are you?

    Is it in the UK?

I didn't think anywhere in the UK was that warm!

I've been cooking warm, filling meals - which have been heartily eaten by one, but the other one's completely locked into doing their own routine thing and doesn't like what we eat.

Been to see a nextstep advisor today, to find out what I should do - she really didn't know, but booked me in for a 2nd appointment next week to go over my CV. But she did say "there's no point you doing a degree, stick to project management, move away from here and get a job". So that's helped sort that one out.

I've not got round to doing my packing and putting stuff into storage yet ... hard to be motivated in an unheated room. I've also got to do my tax return ... hard to be motivated. Also, lost most internet connectivity for 8 days from 4th-11th, it was taking me 40 minutes sometimes to load a single page ... so just sat and watched telly and cooked most of the time to be honest :)

I have to phone London at some point, to see if the offer's still there or not ... putting it off really... but it has to be done ... soon.

So, current status is: if I am coming to London, it is most likely to be on Tuesday 26th/Wed 27th as there are other things happening this end that I feel I should hang around for. Oh, but I might break the journey with a short break on the Dorset coast for a look around :)

Yes... next time the weather's on, peer at the far, far, far, far, far ... bottom left hand corner of the map :)

    I'm down there.

I envy you - sounds exciting.

And I do miss London - terribly.

Have you had it diagnosed? Maybe it's a slipped disc / sciatica and treatable.
