I bought DW an electric pad that covers the upper back and neck. It can be worn under clothing, like a jumper, but it's mains powered, so there's a detachable cable/control unit. It came from Lidl and cost around £15, I think.

While this thing is supposed to be for warming sports injuries etc, it's pretty obvious that most will be purchased by older people with joint pain, or those living in relatively cold houses with draughts. Not sure of the wattage, but I'd imagine it to be pretty economical.

So far, DW hasn't even put it on, which is encouraging in a number of ways, I suppose...:o

That sounded like what I could really have done with a couple of weeks ago, when I had the chest infection and had coughed so much I'd basically pulled every muscle from the bottom of my torso to my neck - it was agony.

I'm better now, but it's interesting to know such things do exist.

It sounds like something I could do with on a regular basis.

I have arthritis in my lower spine and it is only now I am admitting to myself that it's not something that is going to go away if I tell myself I am well, unfortunately, I still overdo it (like my springWinter clean of my kitchen today) and then end up barely able to move!

I really really don't like this growing older lark!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    So...SNOW!!!

Ayone else enjoying yet another day off school/work, due to heavy snow, with no apparent signs of stopping?

Even DH has admitted defeat and decided to work at home as the road is so bad - and usually he'll try to get in even if takes hours as he's pretty essential.

Kids thrilled to be off again. :)

I'm a bit peeved as today was the day I'd re-ordered the Tesco shop after last week's cancelled 1 - we've been struggling through, but supplies are actually running quite low now. No milk, v liitle in the way of fresh fruit and veg. :(

    Not a cat-in-hell's chance they'll deliver in this. :(

    How's everyone else doing?

Did your heating get sorted, Sue?

We stocked-up on Monday. Logs came yesterday again, so we have more than 2 tonnes of those.

Last night I slithered down the hill and sat there in the car, listening to all the folk near Exeter getting stranded and 'phoning in to Radio Devon. The snow swirled around the station and, when DD2's train came, she was the only one to get off. Everyone else had gone home early. It was OK though, with a totally empty road, I had plenty of room to slither about all over the place going back up the hill.:D

Personally, I think the worst is over for now, but it will take a day or two before I can do anything useful outside.

I need to go to Tesco, very frustrating!

Snow on ground and snowing heavily here.

At least text message closing school arrived 5 minutes before I needed to wake up DS.

You're lucky - text message arrived from school, bright and early, saying the school was open.

We get all ready, OH just finishing scraping snow off the car to take the kids, when a friend phoned to say had we got the second text (we hadn't) to say that actually, last minute change of plan, the school was closed after all.

We were OK - had we not been running late, I could have had 3 kids stranded at school, OH stuck half way to the station, me car-less.... etc.

Must have been a nightmare - some kids/teachers there, some stuck en route, some about to leave...

Hey you lot - why don't some of you come over to the general discussion area as the topics can be very engaging and what debate is all about.

    Just a thought.

Thanks Conrad - we do pop in, but also like our little ghetto. Especially when it's snowing and conversation is a little s-l-o-o-o-w - like today.

You're more than welcome to pop back in here for a cup of tea and a virtual biscuit, for a change. :)

I'm sure we can stretch to a virtual pasty if that's more your kind of thing. :)

Because they have scary threads there how if you eat less than you burn, science says you will lose weight. Which as someone whose lost 5 stone (formerly 6 stone, d**n christmas) over the last year I can confirm doesn't work at all.
