Afriend has been PPRed for the Alpha thingy.

I honestly can't believe that he would be banned for something so harmless.

He says he will keep in touch via the other place. But it wont be the same :(

wageslave, it was 'Alpha2' who was ppr'd. Afriend can't now post as his IP address is barred..... due to him having that little bit of fun on a couple of the 'lighter' threads.

It could be a case of mistaken identity . I'm sure there will be enough of us who would miss Afriend's contribution and maybe this can be sorted out in his favour.

    Here's hoping.

I will miss him, It seems the nice funny people always get banend whereas the horrible, miserable sods don't.

It is ironic that one of the few posters that actually belonged on the "nice people" thread can't post here.

I doubt very much anything will be sorted out regarding the PPR. This site may seem warm and cuddly but it is anything but.

It has become a big brand and like all big brands it is extremely risk adverse.

This opens up all sort of possibilities - is getting banned a badge of honour? May be rather than calling it PPR we could call it an ASBO?

Also, does this mean that everyone who is (still) here is neither nice nor funny

It says a great deal about the topsy-turvy logic that drives the internet that the majority of people who are excluded are the people you would be happiest to claim as friends offline.

Did anyone notice how on friday the bank of england sold £86 million of bonds aquired through the asset purchase facility for a profit of £60 million? At least according to FT alphaville. That's a pretty good investment strategy. buy low, and sell high.

Bond prices being the inverse of yields I can't see how overall you would expect to make anything but a loss moving from being the biggest buyer in the market to the biggest seller?

Remember what happened to Mr Copper at I think Sumitomo...

I guess it depends on exactly how the BoE intends to go about disposing of the assets? If the BoE were to sell everything all at the same time, I would have thought you would be right. I've always assumed they would be selling them off in a drip-drip, over a period of five to ten years, but keeping nominal prices at a profit. In other words, selling when there is a buyer. It would hardly be in their interest to sell off so quickly as to produce a very sharp drop in prices, since the entire point of these programs were to prevent that happening.
