Woflram | Alpha - a hugely geeky scientific database of everything you didn't think you needed to know about .... well lots of things. I've been following it since May.
They have just added statistics about calories burned performing different activities. Reading a book vs. swimming for example.
Here you go, have a play see what you think:

Last weigh in before Christmas and I appear to have lost nearly 4lbs. Really don't know how!! I'll believe the scales for once though as it gives me a bit of leeway for extra food over the next few days :D

    Happy Christmas everyone.

Oh well done people!!!!!!! I'm not weighing in again till after New Year as my scales have not come home with me for Christmas. :rotfl:

I had 2 Roses earlier and they were actually a bit sickeningly sweet. So I am hopeful that I won't overindulge this Christmas.

Happy Christmas to you all and I look forward to giving and receiving encouragement on this thread over the festive season xoxoxo

I hope everyone enjoys the festive season , I hope to be a little more on the ball with the January thread (I have put weight ON this month , the joys of medication, inactivity due to the leg ulcer and not wanting food!)

  • Hi everyone,
How did you get on yesterday? I ate and drank what I wanted to but didn't overdo it, i.e. I didn't have seconds like I usually do and, although I had dessert and a few chocolates, I didn't pig out like I usually would have done. Today I celebrate Chrismas with my dad and stepmum and they usually do a buffet so I plan to fill up on ham and salad rather than sausage rolls and quiche etc and only have a small portion of dessert.
I am feeling positive because although I'm having treats and wine, I have changed my way of thinking as I am enjoying the special foods and not depriving myself, but I am not thinking "sod it I will stuff my face then try and do something about it in January" and vastly overeating.
Hope you're all ok and enjoying Christmas.

Much like me. I had drinks with friends yesterday morning, and probably, to be honest took a big calorie intake in that liquid. Had no starter....(decided to have that for a meal today) and just had the ''main meal''. Had some foods I would otherwise not eat...roast potato, gravy....but to be honest think that the actual meal, roast white meat and vegetables, is pretty healthy. Because I have to now avoid goitregenic foods the brussels sprouts were a hug treat....was too full for pudding, and the calorie count suggests thats probably just as well! ;)
We had planned a long walk, but the day just slipped away so only managed the normal walk first thing.

Oh, and my other big thing has been fruit juice, I normally avoid it, but have indulged this morning and yesterday :)

I didn't do too badly tbh, had my dinner, pud and a few drinks but didn't go mad. I asked myself before Christmas 'How do I want to look and feel by New Year? Fat and bloated or restrained and healthy?' I decided on the latter. I had a few NYEs of squeezing into a dress and feeling ashamed of myself, so I am determined to keep this in mind over the week.

Like Valentina2 and lostinrates, I have enjoyed my favourite foods but not mindlessly eaten stuff I'm not that keen on. I think this is important so I don't feel like I am 'wasting' calories.

    Good luck everyone!!!!!
