Regarding the possibility of the OP having evil twins/clones/sock puppets:
Why though? What's the point? By which I mean why would the OP post the same thing under different names when the answers they get are unlikely to be any different?

Mad, isn't it? However, you'd be amazed how many people do it, on here and on several other MSE boards.

Yeh but the OP also have back problems or w/e.

And is unable to ask other people for help face-to-face, be they the tutors, IT department or other students.

Then gets offended if it's suggested and posts another thread.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

My son takes his 17'' laptop to college everyday - as do most of his class. He also has to travel over 40 miles each way on the bus. He's just grateful he's got a laptop as he prefers it to the college computers.

He CHOOSES to do that; I have NOT chosen to do so.

So why not make the choice to do so?

But why should I when everyone else can just the uni computers? And my laptop isn't exactly light either and had to carry it around with me all day today. (because I needed some help with it and didn't have time to come home before my 5.30pm seminar)

  • So why didn't you get the cheaper desktop computer if you are never going to carry your laptop around? The whole point of getting equipment paid for is that you are on a level-playing field with the non-disabled students, not that you are advantaged over them.

I know of a lot of students who would love to get a laptop, it would certainly stop the need for them to hang around the library waiting in queues for computers.

It's not heavy. You can carry it to be honest. You can get laptop bags.
  • look at your Uni's website they should have disability advisers who you can get in touch with, they will advise the tutor on reasonable adjustments that should be made for you to even the learning playing field so to speak.

A laptop bag makes no different and the bag itself is quite heavy. (thankfully, it's a backpack and not shoulder bag)

There is no space in my room or at home for a desktop. I can just about get my laptop, scanner and printer to fit on my desk.

Whoops, i just meant to quote you not thank you.

Did you manage to speak to anyone in person while you were at uni today?
If not, you should. Even if you don't have all the documents with you then you can still ask and try to get the ball rolling on finding a solution.
What do you think the best solution to the problem would be?
