I'm feeling nervous about something going wrong when we go... in 10 months time! The earthquakes and volcanoes are making me worried that something will happen!
A chap at work is stuck in Tenerife; I wonder what work will do about it as it is technically unauthorised absence but how rotten would that be if you finally get back after being stuck abroad and forking out all of the money involved and you find out that you're not getting paid for the time off work!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Surely they'd be able to waive that? Yikes! I'd like to think my work would let me off with something like that! I was in Tesco yesterday and it was quite funny listening to the oneupmanship of the checkout lady and the lady in front of me: "Our so-and-so's stuck in Gambia you know", "well our such-and-such is stuck in Egypt in a five star hotel", "well I hope it doesn't affect my trip to Jamaica next month..." I was stood there thinking "yes we get it, your families are very rich and well-travelled, now can I pay for my cat food please?"! *roll-eyes smiley would be very appropriate here*Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Well since our company is on a money saving scheme that is getting quite fanatical at the minute I reckon people will have to take time from their alloted annual leave or not be paid. I have no faith in them being lenient!
Everyone keeps saying, 'Ooooh I wish I was stuck on holiday' and I think how glad I am that I'm not because I'd have no money! We always spend every penny we take, we'd be starving right now if we were stuck somewhere!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. I know I keep thinking that, and once your holiday's over you normally want to come home. When we went to Cuba we got all the way to the airport and our flight was delayed overnight (because some drunken bloke on the inward flight decided to be aggressive so the pilot had to stop off in Bermuda to kick him off, then by the time he got to Cuba he and the plane staff had worked over their allowed hours and had to stay over and have a sleep) and even though we were AI and went back to the hotel for the night, I'd left all my toiletries etc in the room so had nothing to wash with or anything, horrible!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

It looks like things might be getting better with the volcano so fingers crossed we will all be OK for our holidays in the next few months. I am hoping they open it up again tomorrow as my sisters new flight back is Wednesday.
What kind of cars are you looking at Tete?0 -
Yeah, I'm supposed to be flying home for my cousin's wedding next weekend. Poor Mum and Dad didn't get away on their holiday to Tunisia either. I'd love to be going home on a navy frigate though! How cool:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Ugh, did I hear on the news this morning that it's erupted again? So flights are starting again this morning but have to stop again at lunchtime or something?! Fingers crossed for your sis Wendz, and getting home Lara (not by frigate though hopefully!), where's your friend Tink? 36 hours, yikes!
I'm just looking at little Micras again Wendz, I want a 2002 model - they're the newest ones of the old shape which I like. I'm looking around for a decent model though which has electric windows and central locking and a CD player too maybe - they do exist! I'm also hoping for a little black one but the most prevalent colour seems to be that insipid minty green :undecidedWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Things I need to do this week:
- Look at Italy budget
- [STRIKE]Look at Moors buses/trains[/STRIKE] and linear walk routes
- Look at friend's shortlist of Lakes cottages for our girlie holiday in November
- Keep checking website for cheap train ticket availability
And today:
- [STRIKE]Visit granny[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Make scones[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Washing[/STRIKE]
- Ironing
- [STRIKE]Sewing[/STRIKE]
- Read at least 2 chapters of book - one!
- a Dooyoo???
Scones were a bit better than last time but still a bit flat, must remember not to roll them out as thinly as it says in the book next time. They're really tasty though, and we have some homemade blackberry jam which we bought in a little shop on the Moors on Sunday to go with them, and cream of course
Got a little bit of sewing done, not as much as I'd hoped though I think I'm getting the hang of princess seams now I've done six of them, another two to go! Hopefully I've done enough for teacher to be able to show me the next step which I'm unsure of.
Really need to try and look at Italy budget today and also book my ticket to London while they're still £13.50, then book the return separately.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I can beat that (not personally as I'm in chilly Scotland), a guy in my work is in New Zealand on his honeymoon (was supposed to be back at work yesterday), the earliest confirmed flight home is 7th May :eek:0
