Tete - about the half price tickets, we usually go to the actual theatres although they aren't always cheaper. My Mum and Sister queued up at Billy Elliot one mornign a couple of months ago but they didn't get tickets. The ticket booths are worth a try, we got our lion king ones from ther ebut they weren't any cheaper.0

As for the money making stuff Tete I am only doing my scratchies and surveys now as i am enjoying having evenings to do stuff and am so busy at work etc need the relaxation times. I am going to get back on it in jan.0

Thanks Wendz - I was doing a bit of research into it the other day actually and found something that said "The following are generally NOT available at discounted prices on the day ... Billy Elliot..." - and the under £65 tickets have all sold out now so I doubt we'll get to see that. We went to Lion King last year but I loved it so much and would go and see it again in a heartbeat - not sure about OH though!
I like the sound of what you're doing re. moneymaking and think I'll do the same. I'm only in work three days next week and two the week after so it doesn't even feel like work time, I'm in wind down mode and I think I'll just try and enjoy it!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Tete I'm so jealous that you're going to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and that you've seen The Lion King! I'd love to do both of those. I'm seeing Les Miserables when it comes to Bristol next year though so I'm looking forward to that
I think you'll feel a bit better about the moneysaving when you don't have to ebay stuff! I find ebaying makes me so frustrated - the whole process sucks!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Hey Tete
Another few London things I thought you might like were -
Walking tours -
They sound so naff, but I went with my friend and they were amazing. £5 student ticket is not bad for 2 hours sight seeing, either. Today my friend is down from Sheffield and we're going on 'Hidden London'

Also there are two more areas I thought you might like. The first is Exmouth Market in Farringdon, which is a really pretty shopping street with lots and lots of lovely bars in the area, including The Eagle gastropub, which is apparently the original gastropub(?). The kitchen is at the bar and you can go and watch them cook, and it's all mismatched china and chairs but in a cool way. I put it on the other map for you.

Also the East End and Brick Lane area which is near to where I live. This is the trendy part of town, so there are lots and lots of bars and going out places. In the day time there are lots of small galleries and shops to explore.
What I consider the best curry in town is a restaurant called Tayyabs, which is maybe a 15 minute walk from the top of Brick Lane. There will be a massive queue, at peak times so try to go early or late. You can have a feast for £10 each although the place is heaving and you can't stay too long, you can bring your own booze. All the curry places on Brick Lane are rubbish!
Behind Brick Lane is Spitalfields Market which used to be amazing, but got done up and now is a bit more soulless. Although on the weekend there are some great stalls, independent fashion especially and it's so good for unusual Christmas pressies.

On Sunday there's Columbia Road flower market, which is another lovely street like Exmouth Market, nice for hanging out.
Have a lovely time - here's the map:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -

Hey Zig, how was Bruges, you've been now haven't you?
Again Lara that's fab thank you - I'm liking the sound of Brick Lane and the walks, will have a little look at the links later on, must start having a proper think about what we want to do.
Bex - thanks for the link, will have a look, not heard of that site before. We have kind of decided to go to the half price booths and take pot luck - might be lucky as it's a Thursday night rather than the weekend, but that site's worth a look!
Have really enjoyed my long weekend, not looking forward to being back at work tomorrow but at least it's only a 3-day week. I've spent the afternoon clearing out my CD/DVD shelves so have lost the will to live a bit but got a bit further on my declutter challenge. Have a few CDs to try on Music Magpie ... never used it before and at the min it's saying the server's down so will try again tomorrow.
Sick of ebay, had a snotty email today from some woman complaining that the walking shoes I sent had a bit of dirt on the bottomThey were clearly listed as used and she only paid £3 for them.. I mean what is she planning on wearing them for - the Queen's Garden Party?? No neg feedback yet though so going to send a bit of a grovelly email to try and keep my 100%.
Spending gone a little bit haywire after I realised I hade more money than I thought so I'm probably skint again
Thursday:
£8.50ish - tea and a drink
£8.50 - scarf and two pairs of Christmas socks
Friday:
£5 - fringe trim (actually free but I gave them a Christmas tip)

I haven't been keeping track as strictly as I meant to either, but hopefully this will still give me an idea of what proportion of my money goes where.

- Write out Christmas cards
- 1 dooyoo

Good Lord, you are joking aren't you?! This is why I can't get motivated to get ebaying, I couldn't be bothered with all of the hassle! Fancy moaning about the fact that a pair of used walking boots aren't in pristine condition! She'd have paid more than £3 in a charity shop!
I've given up on making Christmas cards this year and I've bought cards for work people! I feel a bit dirty but I just can't seem to make anything at the minute! I've made (pretty lame) cards for my parents and my brother and I'm going to make a couple more for OH's family but that's it. I'm sick of looking at my craft stuff and feeling nothing! Usually I just have to glance at a bit of card and it practically beautifies itself, this year my creative juices have stopped flowing! I'm broken! As soon as the inspiration comes back I'm going to make a massive batch of cards so I don't get stuck again! :rolleyes:Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Your origami tree has pride of place on my door Tete, I really like the handmadeness of it.

Ah thanks Dinah
When I've been giving them out people have been saying 'Ooh, you could have put decorations on it too' and I reply through gritted teeth that "THEY'RE MINIMALIST".
Aw Birdie! I know what you mean because I seriously lack inspiration for cards, I was lucky and found this in a book - there are two other simple designs too that I'm going to use next year and the year after haha! (and I already have my wedding invites planned) I watched a bit of Kirstie's Homemade Christmas last night on 4OD and got all inspired by everything... wish I didn't have to work!
Thanks also for your ebay support Birdie - I think that's definitely been the nail in the coffin for me, way too much hassle. I still have a couple of bags of stuff in the cupboard, will see how I feel about it after Christmas, might do one last lot.
ETA - I've had another message from narky ebay woman, I think I'll transcribe:
I received this pair of walking shoes today. I have to say though that I was so very disappointed. You sent this pair of shoes STILL DIRTY from when you wore them! I could never have sent an item in that condition - a simple rub with a cloth was all was needed after all. I'm very disappointed.
Hi, thanks for your message. I'm sorry that you were disappointed with the shoes; in fact I did give them going over before sending them and left what I would consider minor dirt in the bottom crevices - I reasoned that this would not be an issue as the shoes were clearly listed as used and would no doubt be getting muddy again soon anyway. Hope you are pleased with their condition otherwise.
Thanks for your reply which I find puzzling. I don't understand how you would clean SOME dirt off and not it all - which begs the question then of how much dirt was on at the beginning - so how USED were they! I know that I would always send an item the way I would like to receive it myself. Maybe you would think of that in the future.
I havent decided yet whether to leave feedback or not as I wouldn't like to leave negative feedback for anyone.
Oh for goodness sake! She can see that there's absolutely no wear on the tread. Sounds to me like she's threatening bad feedback and fishing for a refund but she's not getting it as she's been so a*sey - I don't like being shouted at in capital letters. Hmph.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
