    Hi,

Sorry for the delay in reply. I was still waiting to hear from PayPal. Here is the current happenings on the situation.

I obviously sent the information to the PayPal about the case in which they have also now heard the sellers side of the story. On thursday afternoon i came home and was asked to provide extra documentation which is in all honestly fair enough.

They needed extra documentation from a independant 3rd party who works in the trade of the item type (so tvs repair shops basically).

I visited these type of places yesterday to see if they could do what PayPal have requested and none of them could do it for free. The shops wanted around £60 just to look at the screen to say its broken and irriplacable.

One shop i spoke to in length which is highley respectable electonics sote (local i think) who i have bought things from in the past even said most TFTs cant be repaired due to the nature of them it would cost more then going out and buying a new one.

Today (well just now) i phoned PayPal up as i cant reply to it online saying im not willing to part with £60 to get someone to write on a piece of paper syaing it cant be fixed. I offered the phone number of the company i spoke with at length but they wernt intrested and it now looks like im in a catch 22 situation.

The person whom i spoke with at PayPal said as you cant provide the documentation we require it will probably work against me as the buyer. He said he would place the information i have said on to the case and it will be reviewed without it but the information and the circumstances will be reviewed probably negative on my part.

He then said the next step will be for me most likly to send the screen back to the seller. Now im not 100% sure i wish to send it back if im not even gaurented to even win as it seems its all piling up to go against me. I still have the screen but have now replaced it with an identical model which is fine and has no damage.

Not sure where to go from here. Maybe just give up with PayPal and cancel the issue and try and sell it else where.

Yes im going to lose money but id rather lose some and neve see the screen or money again from the seller.

    Any ideas?

contact the manufacturer and ask for a quote for "out of warranty" repair. They would give you a quote which would be acceptable for ebay.

The other option is take it to a repair shop and ask them to give you a written quote for repair. Do not mention anything about your dispute or ebay etc. Most companies would be happy to provide a written quote for work.

Hope either of the above work for you!!

Exactly, play the seller at his own game. Contact local computer store after local computer store asking for quotes for the repair. Indeed, if you've got a fax, just get the invoices sent and faxed via the phone (simply describe the lcd). You may aswell try and flood paypal with several ridiculous quotes to fix it.

Or turn on the monitor and take several photos of it - it can't do any harm.

Also make sure Paypal is aware that there is currently a claim for the damage with DHL at the moment - that should go for you - since why would the seller be claiming if there is no fault.

Well i got my final response from PayPal today and i will get a full refund on the item once ive sent it back and provided them with a tracking number etc.

I have to post the item at my cost im just wondering which method to use:

DHL which dont cover TFTs but its already damaged.cost is £13
    Parcel Force £24

Which option is the better. Obviusouly the cost is coming out of my money i orignally paid for the item so im not sure which to choose.

    Thanks.
