Ok, here are the possible outcomes:

    1. Seller gets compensation from DHL and refunds you.
    2. Seller doesn't get compensation but, as he is meant to do, refunds you anyway.
    3. Seller doesn't refund you, for whatever reason.

Obviously 1 and 2 are the preferable options. If you think your seller is a good ebayer, and a genuine person, I can't stress enough that you should give him the opportunity to sort this out.

If you can't afford to be out of pocket until he gets his result from DHL, file a paypal claim.
If it looks like his compensation isn't going to come through in time, file a paypal claim.

BEAR IN MIND this dispute will freeze the funds, possibly disabling his paypal account and putting the scuppers on any ongoing transactions with other people. This will ANNOY him. Personally, before I filed a dispute, I'd want to be damn sure the seller wasn't doing all he could to help.

At the end of the day it's your call. You're in a strong position. You could link the auction - we could check if you have buyer protection. If you have that, then you're sitting pretty.

Here is the link to the auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8824334283&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

The seller up till this morning came over fine. However at the end of the email he said if you feel you cant wait just leave me negative feedbacl that statement was kind of worring.

    Regards,
    Darren

Oh God, he's only got 10 feedback.

Contact your card issuer and talk to them about a chargeback.

Sorry to change my tone but this seller is going to drag this out forever.

I would be tempted to say to them.

"Hi d.affect, thanks so far for mailing back and I can't apologise more for bringing this problem to you, it's something that neither of us want to deal with. I don't want to leave you neg feedback as I don't see that you've done anything wrong, it's DHL's fault, not yours. But we are both stuck in this together. I'm more than happy to help out in your dealings with DHL. Naturally I'm concerned so please do bear with me. Let's be positive on the outcome of this,
    Thanks, XYZ"

    Nice monitor!! Very nice.

Chances are with PayPal is that he doesn't have loads in his PayPal account, and if he hasn't got it then they won't give it to you.

You're doing everything you can here, and I here can't help but feel so sorry for you :(

Contact your credit card company and see what they say. Just get some information out of them to see what would happen and if a chargeback is possible. Don't mention eBay too much as they hate dealing with it. Mention PayPal and that you paid for something.

The does sound quite human I'll give him/her that. And I bet this is their worst nightmare come true. It's not exactly hard, all they have to do is deal with and join the dots together.

Hang ON!! Parcelforce 24 is not DHL!! You paid for DHL. Never mind, let's not even go there!!

Here, have a nose through what they've been doing; http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/item-fb?User=d.affect&Search=&as_Seller=Seller&Check=Check

See what the credit card company says? We're starting to move round to doing a forced refund now.

Ok, that seems like a good indication that he's getting stressed out. How many times have you emailed him now? I think you should just let him do his thing with DHL, OR file a paypal claim... but don't keep hassling him. You want him to help you, not just give up because you're a pain in the bum.

He only has 10 feedback so he's not a particularly experienced ebayer. You don't have buyer protection - all that means is that paypal can't guarantee you'll get your dosh back. In this case, sooner is better than later in terms of filing a claim.

    Your call.

OP, Can you post a picture of the monitor, particularly the area which is damaged? Wouldn't mind seeing this.

Il get a few pictures up soon as im being a secure network right now. He did plan to send it by Parcel Force however they quoted £30 when he took it to the post office due to its weight.

I have only emailed the seller when he has emailed me so im not sure he can be stressed out. Sounds like he wants to drag it out to get all money out of paypal.

On the other hand i paid via debit card not by credit card so i doubt my bank will care about the matter.

Looks like im going to have to cut my loses :(

Well if your monitor isn't that badly damaged, in that if it's just a few dead pixels and not OTT, I just might buy it off you...

The other option is to put it back up on eBay. For a 19" Iyyama someone will buy it. But for something like that I'd stick it inbetween two bits of hardboard and remove the vesa mount.

The paypal dispute is worth trying, at least.

    Hi,

Its like have a id say no more then 1/2 dead pixels in a line. Its minimal but its the reason i got rid of my TV as that head a dead pixel and was out of warrenty so it needed replacing.

Below is the folder ive uploaded the pictures to:

    wwww.applewave.com/tft/

If you want a better picture il try and get one to you.

    I see.

    Somerset??

You could put it back up on ebay as that damage is so negliable. Running an NEC Multisync LCD 1810 here which has a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen.

    So two more options present themselves;
    1. Sell it on on ebay
    2. An interested party who is being cautious and doesn't want to name a price.

The fear here is that we could go through this all over again. If you were say 70 miles away I'd come pick it up.

I think eBay it, mentioning the ding in the screen. Worse unknown ones go for more.
